Is December looking less and less good (because it seems like the beginning of the month has trended warmer), or is it just models rushing the pattern change like usual?
I'm thinking you might be seeing a rain/snow mix. it's very hard to see that out of your window, but you might see some translucent, very wet flakes if you go outside and analyze
perhaps this is an over-polarization, especially for central park, but for Baltimore and points south I can tell you we treat every snow event like gravy.
5 inches of snow in DC, about 2.5x of climo. that's great! but like @WxUSAF implies sometimes, i'd rather get that 2.5x climo in january or february (which is 12.5" instead of 5")
