I'm thinking you might be seeing a rain/snow mix. it's very hard to see that out of your window, but you might see some translucent, very wet flakes if you go outside and analyze

12z Euro was nice. Temps are around 32-35 so rain/snow mix.

perhaps this is an over-polarization, especially for central park, but for Baltimore and points south I can tell you we treat every snow event like gravy.

Are you thinking that south of the M/D line will see a warmer than average December, or will it be balanced out by a colder end?

5 inches of snow in DC, about 2.5x of climo. that's great! but like @WxUSAF implies sometimes, i'd rather get that 2.5x climo in january or february (which is 12.5" instead of 5")
