It's better than staying below freezing but I dont see how the short window of warmth is going to thaw much of this out. .3 ice accretion now.- 475 replies

OBS-Nowcast Noon Saturday 2/15-Noon Monday 2/17

Sitting at 31 with freezing rain here near Campbell Hall. It's rough out there with at least .2 accretion on top of the 1.9” of snow I measured last night. Really hoping for that warm air to get in here long enough to get the ice out of the trees before the winds or we'll have a real mess on our hands. Not good out there right now.- 475 replies

Same conditions here. Obviously not a lot of traffic out there yet but what is out there seems to be moving halfway decent based on the traffic layer of Google maps.- 475 replies

I had 3” at the stake this morning, a solid snow cover. It has been a decent snowcover year down here, albeit on the small side.

Moderate snow, all surfaces covered with .3 so far, temp down to 27, and dropping still, after a high of 31 a couple hours ago.- 475 replies

Yeah, I tend to agree. Hopefully the biggest story won't be the wind right before and after the cold front.

Yeah, 36 pages of no one interested. Anyway, hoping the temps get high enough above freezing up here tomorrow to melt the anticipated ice off the trees and wires before the winds kick in. Also wondering what kind of icy mess there will be on the ground once it all freezes up again.

Yeah, not looking forward to that shit.

My 3.5" snow cover is now solid as a rock.

Thomas Bull Park, along NYS 416 between Campbell Hall and Montgomery NY, 27.4" for the season.
-
3" melted down to .46, the densest snowfall so far this year. 4" at the snow stake, 27.4" on the season.
-
The only things guaranteed in life are death and taxes. 3” of what is likely the densest snow of the season here thus far. 27.4” for the season.

I think it'll be over long before then but maybe wear your pajamas inside out or something to bring good luck?

The sun glare off the glacier, albeit thin, that is my yard is blinding.

Some flakes floating down currently.

It’s close enough to freezing that it’s breaking up a bit. The real issue is that rock salt doesn’t work as well as it does on paved surfaces and obviously you can’t really scrape a non paved surface. 1.1” was the max depth I recorded on the board. The snow, sleet, freezing rain melted down to .33”

My stone driveway is a disaster. I just salted and sanded it, hoping tomorrow the sun gets after it, still haven’t reached freezing, 31/30.

Watches hoisted.

Agreed on that. Was bummed to have lost the majority off my pack but we start again. Well, wasn't much of a pack but solid snow cover of about 4" once the 6.9" settled down.

5 of the last 6 winters have been solidly below average IMBY. As noted above, this year is running close to average thus far.

I can verify the flip back to small snow flakes, light snow with the occasional ice pellet mixed in here in Goshen, central Orange County.
