FWIW, the HRRR did a decent job IMO, at least in my neck of the woods, with the winds. It consistently showed that the windier part of the storm would be this afternoon around here.

Interesting.. I was just on the road and everything seemed to be operating as normal. Only thing I can think of is teachers who live in effected areas may be having trouble coming in
Yeah I think all of them are cleared now, I see the Thruway southbound from Newburgh to Harriman is open again. Just quickly scrolling through the text messages: 208, 302, Route 6, 284, 9W, 17 all had issues overnight into early this morning. Below is the gage near the hospital in Middletown, its about a foot below what it reached right before Christmas, which was the highest in a while there. Not sure it that will be topped later today or not:

So the kids have a 2 hr delay from some rain in january lol.. Gotta love it. Snowpack is still quite healthy here
Temp 41°
I've received well over 20 texts now from 511/NYSDOT for various road closures due to flooding and/or debris, most are cleared now, but the delays have to be tied to that although I agree it does seem to be a bit overly cautious.

Pressure peaked at 1030.8mb overnight yesterday and bottomed out at 981.4mb overnight today. Nearly a 50mb difference.
3.55 event total, rainfall rates peaked at just under 5” per hour in the squall line, in the dead of winter. Our climate is really living up to my username this decade.
I peaked at 1030.6mb and bottomed out at 980.6mb, making for exactly a 50mb difference.

High of 52 at 2:18am, down to 42 now, after .5” of snow to start yesterday wound up with a 1.95” liquid total. Impressed I still have snow cover, although thin under the trees now, 4” at the stake. Will be monitoring the Wallkill in Middletown.
That snow at the start messed up the tipper, 2.22" in the Status for the total.

Highest wind gust was 18mph here but I think there will be more wind around here this afternoon than there was last night. Will be monitoring the Wallkill in Middletown all day.

My dream as well, rclab. Add a railroad and I would be set.
Strictly railroad, I'd chose Soda Springs, CA, but there's kind of a 'light house' nearby...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubicon_Point_Light

Final storm stats:
Two day snowfall = 7"
Two day melted = 1.22"
I got into some good ratios in that heavy band Saturday night, 13.9" snowfall and the melted down core sample yesterday was 1.26"

Low was only 32 here, was forecasted to drop to 26. I cant remember the last time we had a decent snowfall followed by colder weather moving in right afterwards. 11" at the stake, 32/27 currently

Need to extend that a little north now. The Kingston area had a good foot. Then it tails off so by the time you're into Greene County it's 6 or 7 inches. But we remain in steady snow, moderate at times. 6" at my place in Albany County. 28F.
A rather meager 16" of snow for the season to date. Last year we started slow also but then got pounded by three big wet snowstorms in February/March and closed with 96 inches.
Good to see you posting here, hope all is well. 33/31 with light snow, wha5 appears to be a heavier band just to my west.

And people mocked that 9" report in Jersey last night, all you had to do was look at that band on radar, confirmed to be snow by the mPING reports. 14" here with light snow on going.

This band means business.. I know some of guidance picked up on sig accumulation on this side but i was skeptical. If these rates continue for another 2 hrs then 12" is not out of the question
I think a key is what happens tomorrow, if the snow backfills or not. The big damage is tonight but tomorrow could be a nice icing on the cake.
