Yeah I noticed that when I was going down the Thruway earlier today between Harriman and Sloatsburg and was wondering what's happening.

That could be the dead ash trees from the emerald ash borer too, I saw a lot of those along that stretch last summer. I was out in western Orange County last weekend and the hillsides along 84 had lots of bare spots from the caterpillars. I’ve heard the New England guys talk about this for a couple years and now I see it in person it’s no joke.

Up to .23” on the day with rain still falling.

Storms are approaching my location now.  Lightning activity with these storms is quite minimal currently.  Only 6 strikes detected in the past three hours according to my Tempest.

Will see what happens with the batch heading in now but the showers here earlier today looked more impressive on radar then they were thru the tipper. We shall see.

Those suckers had a field day around West Point. A bunch of trees stripped.

It started with the smaller trees near me, now there are numerous fully grown huge oaks completely bare. The maples and others are getting chomped up too but at least IMBY the oaks are the worst.

I have not posted in some time.  Not much weather going on.  Other than .05" of rain yesterday morning we have not had any rain since May 27th.  Pollen is coating everything.  We have also not had even one clap of thunder this season.  Hopefully the showers/storms will hold together long enough to give us some rain this evening.  Things are getting very dry.

On a totally different subject, I have missed a northward facing webcam on the summit of Mt Washington.  I called them last winter and told them I would give them a donation to buy a new cam.  To do so they had to build an outside enclosure and also put in a new window.  So it was a pretty big job.  Others chipped in too. The camera is now live.

Thanks Gene and glad to see that all is well!

The Tent Caterpillar showing this year is the largest I’ve seen in the last few years. See a bunch of crabapple trees stripped throughout the area.:gun_bandana:

The HRRR is showing a few showers moving thru later this afternoon and early evening, hopefully it will wash some of that poop away.;)

There are 15-20 younger trees planted over the past 5 years along the road in the park, maybe 15-20 feet tall, completely wiped clean.

Thank goodness I only got 0.04” in the bucket. Saves me from shoveling the driveway

0.00 here, did have a very light sprinkle about an hour ago. Heavy chewed leaf and caterpillar poop though.

Greenwood lake got absolutely destroyed this morning. Nws is up there now.

Like I said in the NW thread, I don't recall ever seeing a request for so many UTV for a call that's not a brushfire.

Just some light rain and a few rumbles here with the first cell. It was a little rowdy in the Greenwood Lake area with some trees down, this one slid just to our south. We’ll see what happens with the second round of activity that’s on our doorstep.

I knew that cell went through Greenwood Lake but I didn't realize it was that bad. I do now after looking at the fire calls from this morning, at least one tree on a car and numerous trees on houses I saw after taking a quick glance. I dont recall seeing a request for that many UTVs before for something other than a brush fire.

  9. Just some light rain up here for the most part but there was one bolt of lightning that must have hit the tower at the top of the hill because the flash and crashing boom were at essentially the same time. It got my plague flowing for sure.

We just hate warm weather. What's wrong with that ?

Nothing is wrong with that. Whining about it on a daily basis is a different story.

    congratulations!

I can't deal with this freaking rain anymore

Thank you. Sunday looking relatively decent now. I was going to mow after work but of course those pop up showers are going right over my yard.

    I'm not dead yet...

Nothing special to talk about I guess. Yeah, a bit over average but the surface has dried sufficiently that it's not squishy walking around the yard and the few things I planted aren't rotting within a week so that's nice. I'd really like it to dry out some more though, these rainy weekends are killing my business for the second year in a row and that sucks.

    I'm getting better!!

Agreed, not much to talk about. Sadly I think Ive got use to the rain every couple to few days.
