It's raining ice off the branches now here in Wantage and glad we have had the 70 MPH gusts, at least not yet.

May take quite a while to get power back once its off, due crews spread a little thin in the many east coast states where power is out.

This may be my last post for a day if we lose power. 

Up to 34 here and it's noisy out there with the ice raining down now. Ice getting blown against the house too. 

Up to 34 now with some wind just starting. I just went outside to get the Stratus and thought it was pouring. Well it was, ice raining down off of everything. 

Up to 33... Forecast for numerous frozen car doors overnight and heavy black ice. 

I usually just hold my tongue on this type of stuff as usually I don’t see any issues. That said, I’m shocked that there is now WSW or WWA for around here with freezing rain pouring down. Sure I’m right at freezing, so the rain could go either way but the damage was already done so there is lots of ice out there now covered in water, plenty slippery enough. KMGJ just up the road still hasn’t touched freezing. Be careful out there. 

I just hope Upton words it ok today for people...

That's a familiar sight today...hoping the rain moving in knocks some of it down here. Temp setting right at 32 though... Surprised the WWA wasn't extended again around here. 

32.2 with rain showers, the water from which is just running off the top of a bullet proof 5" snowpack. My biggest snowfall is only be 6.9" so far but it's been deep winter up here for months now.

That run had a max temp of 36 here, the 13z has the max temp at 34. Just made it to 32 here finally. 

Got enough ice moved that the wife could get up the lane in her Civic with tires on their last legs and then had no issues getting to work in Middletown. 31.3 with drizzle still. 

Back down to 30.8 here. One of my issues here is that the lane I live on, if you will, was plowed last night. Great. Well it's now just a sheet of ice and they typically don't salt or sand the lane so I really need that ice to go away or I may be stuck here for a while.

Thanks. That explains it, after getting to 31.9 I'm back down to 30.8 now with freezing drizzle in between the occasional freezing rain showers. 

1.9" last night with .3 ice on top. Up to 32 (31.9) but want to raise em up higher than that.

It's better than staying below freezing but I dont see how the short window of warmth is going to thaw much of this out. .3 ice accretion now. 

Sitting at 31 with freezing rain here near Campbell Hall. It's rough out there with at least .2 accretion on top of the 1.9” of snow I measured last night. Really hoping for that warm air to get in here long enough to get the ice out of the trees before the winds or we'll have a real mess on our hands. Not good out there right now.

Same conditions here. Obviously not a lot of traffic out there yet but what is out there seems to be moving halfway decent based on the traffic layer of Google maps.

I had 3” at the stake this morning, a solid snow cover. It has been a decent snowcover year down here, albeit on the small side. 

Why is anyone bent out of shape about Upton's wording for an event 4+ days away? 

Moderate snow, all surfaces covered with .3 so far, temp down to 27, and dropping still, after a high of 31 a couple hours ago.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Hopefully the biggest story won't be the wind right before and after the cold front.

Yeah, 36 pages of no one interested. Anyway, hoping the temps get high enough above freezing up here tomorrow to melt the anticipated ice off the trees and wires before the winds kick in. Also wondering what kind of icy mess there will be on the ground once it all freezes up again.
