  1. With temps around 20 the roads continue to be snotty up this way as the road salt is less effective, steady light snow.
  2. Must’ve cleared your board at least twice to get that....1.3” here in Campbell Hall.
  3. You weenies can all say “no, it’s cool we didn’t get as much snow” and I call bullshit. I do not get snow envy, that’s just stupid, but I was promised 3” by @Juliancolton and I have 1.3” with very light snow falling....WTF
  4. Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.
  5. This morning I had 12”, obviously under that now.
  6. When I had the Davis Vantage Vue I noted that under a certain conditions of bright sun and little wind that it ran a little high. The fan aspirated radiation shield on the VP2 makes a difference FWIW. The high was 42 up here today.
  7. Looks like .4” will do it here in Campbell Hall, NY
  8. Some sad news to report, some of you old timers may recall a poster, Tjay, from Goshen, NY. He lost his wife this week. He hasn’t been active on this board in many years but did some solid reporting on the Goshen tornado in 2011 and was a regular on the Eastern board back in the day as well as Weenietown, a couple of you may recall those days. I think his screen back then was Larry or something like that but his avatar was Larry David. I met him in person back in the day at Advanced Skywarn Training at the Orange County Emergency Services building, super nice guy. He shared this sad news on social media so I figured it would be ok to mention it here for anyone who wants to include him in their thoughts.
  9. Nice, 15” at the stake this morning, .7” this morning melted down to .03.
  10. Yeah, there were a couple other posts I didn’t quote. Long story short I had one board I only cleared once in 24 hours and another board that I cleared “close to” every 6 hours (I wasn’t getting up in the middle of the night to clear it and I was an hour late on one clearing yesterday afternoon). It was just a little experiment for me. The total of the board I cleared once a day was 17.7” and that’s the total going into my records.
  11. Surprised so many of you didn’t get much wind. I mean, it was nothing like Christmas Eve but KMGJ gusted to 30 or higher for 19 hours straight.
  12. Some decent drifting over this way, there should be some massive banks on 416 along the horse fields, as is tradition.
  13. Yup, but I don’t think many follow those guidelines. I did the two methods as an experiment which I found interesting, the 17.7” is going in my records. That’s impressive that you have 23.3 on the ground now, so that goes in the log as 23.5 since as you know snow depth is rounded to the nearest half inch.
  14. You’re a trusted wealth of knowledge here, please see my post above from the NW thread, would you record the 17.7 or the 19.5 for the event?
  15. So which number should I record in the books? I’m going with the 17.7 but will note the 19.5, and I’ll note 15.5 at the stake. I’m sure weenies will go with the 19.5 or even round it up to 20. Using the eye ball measuring technique I got at least 24 LOL
  16. The core that I took from the 24 hour board with 13.6” on it melted down to 1.56”, note that by this point there had been a notable change in the flakes by the time I took the core. Another 4.1” on the boards this morning so by using the cleared board measuring method I got 19.5”. Using the measuring every 24 hours method it’s 17.7” but after all that there was a total of 15.5” on the ground when I measured this morning at 7:30am. This is a classic illustration IMO of how snowfall measuring is by far the least accurate weather record.
  17. My 2:30pm measurement should’ve been at 1:30pm, the only excuse I have is that I’m a dumbass but I digress. 7:30pm: -13.6” in the last 24 hours on the uncleared board (it’s cleared now) and I’m melting down a core sample from that board. -The measurement on the board I cleared last at 2:30pm was 7.4” so the cumulated total from that board is 15.4”. -14.8” OTG which includes the leftovers from last week.
  18. Another long week of tracking. If you see my uncle who lives on Jefferson Ave say hello for me.
  19. I think a screenshot works better than a screencap...was I just hashtagging?
  20. Yep, Grade A powder thankfully. I’ll melt down a core sample tonight when I clear both boards at 7:30pm, the one because it will be 6 hours and the other because it’ll be 24 hours.
