    OSU says he doesn't see how UHI explains that, all those other locations have asphalt and concrete too.

    I'm discussing this with a few Mets on the AMX discord. OSU and Stebo are both mets and Stebo works at the Detroit airport taking observations. Stebo said they check the instruments and inspect them all the time so its highly unlikely its an instrument issue. As we already discussed its most likely an urban heat issue. Everywhere I go in Buffalo there is construction.

    This has to be the year to get our clipper pattern going. They are more favored in La Nina years vs El Nino.

    All the stations update at different times, its tough to take those maps literally. That's my take as KBUF said nothing wrong with thermometer a few weeks ago.

    Our winters are definitely warming. Pretty crazy how the midwest has actually gone down in average temps Dec-Feb. Look at the scale, its nothing too extreme, but again this is only 18 year scale. It takes decades for the warm to really be felt. *It's vs the 1981-2010 longterm average so makes it seem less worse than it actual is. If it was vs the longterm average it would likely be more dramatic.

    Does anyone know if SYR recording station has a new parking lot or development around? SYR and BUF stand out as 2 places in NY with the largest temperature disparity. Why is Buffalo 2.7 degrees warmer this month than ROC? BUF: +2.6 ROC: -.1 WAT: +1.2 SYR: +2.3 BING: +1.1

    Its even more noticeable in larger cities like Toronto, NYC, LA. We have no where near the urban heating those places get. A parking lot next to the place they record temps can definitely have an effect of 1-2 degrees, especially in summer and on sunny days. Blacktop soaks in the sun.

    Or another way to look at it, we get all the hole of despairs out of the way before winter hits.

    KBUF updates their temp every 60-90 minutes. Other stations are updated within minutes.

    So far this month BUF: +2.6 ROC: -.1 WAT: +1.2 SYR: +2.3 BING: +1.1 If anything I think ROCS thermometer is off, no one is negative in NYS besides them.

    I messaged Kbuf and they said nothing is wrong with thermometer. It’s 59 at Kbuf right now and 61 in Hamburg.

    Yea I was driving home from hockey last night and it was freezing, actually turned my heat on.

    Right now I work 35/36 hours a week and get paid for 40 and work 3 minutes from my house. I've been helping my mom while shes sick with my other free time.

    Yeah I get so caught up in the climb the corporate ladder and a new job title that I forget how nice I have it right now.
