Band won’t move much through tomorrow The expectation is that the lake band will meander a bit to the north and south, but it appears that it will remain parked across the Buffalo metro area at least through tonight and perhaps even through the day Saturday as steering winds remain southwesterly.

HAZARDS...The combination of a band of heavy snow and winds gusting to 65 mph is producing BLIZZARD conditions. In this band visibility is ZERO, and there are numerous vehicles stranded on the roadways. Do not attempt to travel in this band. LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 325 PM EST, a band of heavy snow was across the city of Buffalo, extending northeast across Cheektowaga, Williamsville, Clarence Center, and Akron. The band is expected to remain nearly stationary through sunset. LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... Buffalo, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, North Tonawanda, Clarence, Lackawanna, Kenmore, Depew, Tonawanda, Amherst, Lancaster, Medina, Williamsville, Grand Island, Pendleton, Pembroke, Akron, Erie Basin Marina, Small Boat Harbor and Blasdell. This includes Interstate 90 between exits 48A and 55. SAFETY INFO... Travel is impossible in this area, with blizzard conditions.

Wind chills as cold as 10 to 20 below zero. * WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Erie, and Genesee counties. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be extremely difficult to impossible at times. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage and numerous power outages. The bitter wind chills as low as 10 to 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

  7. I really don't understand why anyone is driving right now aside from emergency services. Driving ban went into place at 9:30
  8. Winds are primiarily out of the SW/W and likely not to change until Monday. So I'd expect totals down there to be manageable.

  10. Lake is about to explode with snow. I expect lake enhanced snow into tonight across all of Erie county. Rates will be somewhat low due to winds and the impact the winds have on flake production. It won't really matter much with those windspeeds
