    While much of the activity was delayed yesterday, the amounts that were pegged still ended up coming to fruition.

    Not to discount how extreme this event is, but there's definitelty a decent gradient with the rainfall across the Metroplex. The activity and amounts drop off drastically in NE Dallas and the NE suburbs ( I.E. Collin County).

    Nothing more than sprinkles in the Metroplex thus far. We'll see what the next few hours bring.

    Good luck with that. Upper level pattern looks to remain hostile to tropical development in the forseeable future. But we'll see what September and beyond brings...

    At last, our dry streak has ended. It's been raining hard as hell for a good minute.

    Obviously there's still August to get through, but for Dallas, the May-June-July 2022 period was the hottest on record, tying with 1998.

    Yeah, it hasn't been a -NAO in the technical sense, but on balance when looking at the May & June maps, there has definitely been pretty stubborn ridging west of Greenland towards Hudson Bay (kind of emulating the look of a west-based -NAO). Of course, paired with what has been fairly persistent troughing on the west coast into the GOA, the duration of troughing and cooler weather for the eastern half of the country has been transient.

    Oh, one thing I neglected to mention: There wasn't a single day with a negative departure the entire month of July for DFW.

    Yet another record maximum low was tied this morning at DFW (84°F, previously set in 2011).

    Today's high at DFW was an intra-hour 101°F.And another record maximum low of 83°F was set this morning (previous record was 82°F in 2011).

    It be so cute watching the NWS grids for FWD. The afternoon forecaster(s) always tries their damndest to find any reason to knock down a forecasted 100*F+ high to 99*F, and it never ends up working out for them.

    Some people only come around for pity and to complain. Maybe they finally got their fix and don't need a shoulder to cry on any more.

    Today's high at DFW was an intra-hour 104°F.

    July 2022 stats for DFW (hot *AND* dusty!): *2nd warmest on record (average of 91.8°F). *2nd driest on record (only a T of precipitation). *Tied with 1998 for 2nd warmest average maximum on record (102.4°F). *Warmest average minimum on record (81.1°F). *4th greatest number of 100°F+ highs on record (27).

    Even despite a fair amount of cirrus, isolated convection firing over the Metroplex and outflow boundaries early this afternoon, DFW still managed an intra-hour 100°F today.

    Another record maximum low was tied this morning at DFW (83°F).

    Today's high at DFW was 102*F. A few areaa around the Metroplex (not mine) did see some brief heavy showers that billowed up off the outflow boundary from the storms to the NW. And it did knock temps down into the low 90s

    So much for that cold front so far. Currently 100*F at DFW (as of 2pm).

    You guys in OK should get some pretty decent rain this weekend. Meanwhile, Texas looks to stay largely hot & dry, except for maybe areas in the Arklatex region and along the Red River.

    00z GFS was a pretty different look.

    It's been showing that for the past several runs. No doubt it's overdone though.
