18 gfs is pure porn in the long range
Unusual at this early point in July to have a strong tropical system form off the coast of Africa and so near the equator, let alone be progged by the GFS to hit SE and NE coasts. It will probably be ots on the 00z, lol.

Meanwhile, Greenland just set the record for coldest July temperature ever reported in the Northern Hemisphere at -33C.
Climate experts immediately responded to the record cold by saying Greenland is melting faster than expected at -33C.
Almost all of Greenland’s surface is gaining ice.

I believe euro will end up being largely right. Nj not far from getting into the action. To say this is a terrible euro performance to me is ludicrous. It trended appropriately. But unlike the others didn't bounce around with huge swing
That's why it's the king.

How much since 1pm when the GFS initialized?
The 18z GFS had around 3" for NYC at 6z, so it's a complete fail. They will probably have a foot or more by then.

From NYC forum at Accuweather, Ryan Maue tweeted that the forecast boils down to ECMWF at 1 AM. Decision to trash the entire USA suite of models and go with 1 European. Such anticipation lol:

The NAM spit out total qpf of 2.45 for OWD. At 15 to 1 ratios that would be 3 feet. But it is the NAM.

You are right on. Harvey called it ahead of time and the morning of the storm all the local stations were calling for 1 to 2 feet the way I remember it. The problem was the snow didn't start as early as planned. Most people went off to work. It was a different time. There wasn't the option to work at home for so many. There was no internet but there was Shelby Scott!. I was in high school at the time. I lived in Dedham (jackpot zone Southwest of the city). I'll never forget the wind that morning even before the snow began. The destruction on the coastline was just incredible.
I was on my way to work in Needham when Don Kent came on the radio just before noon concerned that if the storm didn't start soon, he thought the phase might not take place. In a little over an hour a wall of snow hit blowing sideways. Left work within 15 minutes of the start, and took 3 hours to get home to Randolph taking the back roads, normally a 30 minute drive. If I had gone 128, I probably would have been stranded up by Dedham, Canton.

BTW, the GFS among the major globals is all alone with this.
