  1. Temp down to 33 now. Snow is starting to stick on colder asphalt street/lot surfaces.
  2. Down to 34 here now with steady SN. Colder metal surfaces and untreated paved surfaces are starting to get some coverage but treated walks/streets are still wet.
  3. Now getting stickage on grassy areas and colder surfaces. Treated surfaces are still wet. Temp still 35.
  4. All is now right with the world. Temp is down to 35 here, had 0.06" of rain registered before the switch to snow. Snow is forming a slushy coating on car windshields but not really sticking on walks, streets, or grassy areas yet.
  5. Now getting all big flake wet snow, with very little rain mixing in. Temp is down to 36.
  6. Yup. My sister not far from you in Upper Darby texted to say she was getting "thick rain" and I told her we call it "white rain" and she laughed saying she knew we had a term for it.
  7. Getting white rain now for the first time. Rain rates have increased and am up to 0.05". Temp is down to 37 and falling.
  8. Colder air is slowly trickling in. Temp is down to 38 and headed to 37. Up to 0.02" of rain so far. R/S line on the move east.
  9. Still light rain and finally tipped the bucket for 0.01" of it. Temp is down to 39.
  10. I usually use the point-and-click for KPHL. You are out in the hinterlands not too far from Paul. We don't have any flakage here in the city yet where Chesco has been cashing in.
  11. Starting to get some light rain here now. Dp has mostly been in the upper 20s today and has now crept up to the low/mid 30s.
  12. Virga is a pretty localized phenomena so probably not model-able per se. It's just that the precip is there but not making it all the way to the ground. Also I think you can change your avatar by going to your profile page and selecting the "Cover photo" drop-down in the upper right hand corner (haven't done it with the newer version of the forum so not sure what the defaults are).
  13. Still overcast here but seeing other reports back across Lancaster and Chesco and Delco of snow. Temp 42.
  14. Now up to 44 here and overcast. Was just going through the November event where there was a similar initial marginal temp profile although not as high as the 40s that we have here in the lower part of the CWA. Once the precip started, there was enough dynamic cooling to get the temps down.
  15. It's up to 43 here now. Whatever was headed this way went poof! I am seeing partly cloudy sky to my north and a slightly more solid deck to my SW.
  16. It's kinda weird but it was completely overcast about 20 minutes ago and now the sun has popped out and it is partly cloudy (although some more clouds are starting to fill in). The radar has a blob over Wilmington going back to the NW into Chester County that is moving this way (I guess that is some of your virga) but am wondering if it stays together, whether it will throw some sprinkles this way. Temp here is rising and up to 41 (right after the sun came out).
  17. If I'm reading this right, if you take it (that HRRR run) out further, it is right at freezing before midnight (have to obviously wait for later runs to get it through the night). So it's possible that any honkin' but brief heavy rates say between 2 am - 4 am, could get people close.
  18. If it gets really convective in the right spot and ramps up the rates, you just need a couple hours of that before it goes flying off to the NE.
  19. I'm teasing you. Even Mike chimed in that they might be "too high". I think some of this is due to the traditional hanging of a hat on the Euro, which the past couple years has not been the best (maybe some upgrade did it in) and a knee-jerk dismissing of the NAM (which has gotten a bit better the past couple seasons).
  20. I think this is the first Winter Storm Warning for Philly (county) the whole season (I usually archive the watches/warnings) - This would pretty much be Philly school-closing criteria. And as a sidenote, I have been LOLing at Kamu talking Ralphie off the cliff.
  21. Getting some flurries the past 15 minutes or so. Some remnants have been passing over ("heaviest" in quotes about 10 minutes ago). Temp is still 32.
  22. The temp remained at or above 32 all night. Looks like I have about 1/4" of a sleet/ip/snow mix on the car windshield (nothing on treated surfaces) but the gauge ticked up to 0.32" of liquid (I think much of yesterday's snow had pretty much already melted in the hole before this started). There was light rain here about an hour ago. It's interesting to look at the archived nexrad images back to midnight to see the rain/snow line literally wavering along I95. Currently 32 and DZ.
