Hurricane Agnes replied to Hurricane Agnes's topic in Philadelphia Region
Bottomed out at 69 this morning and did hit 90 just after 2:30 pm this afternoon here in NW Philly, thus starting day 1 of the progged heatwave. The dews were reasonable yesterday but today, are back in the low 70s. Currently a hazy, hot, and humid 89 with dp 71. -

I think they also changed the product name from "Excessive Heat Watch" to "Extreme Heat Watch" too. -

LSR is up and it seems the max gusts reported were ~55 - 60 mph - https://www.weather.gov/wrh/TextProduct?product=lsrphi Just looking at pics of literal "snapped" trees and poles (versus the usual uprooting) seems to suggest that there might have been some localized downbursts/straight line winds at some locations. I bottomed out at 64 this morning and it's like day and night compared to yesterday (with steamy windows). It's currently mostly sunny and breezy, with temp at 79 and dp a more manageable 64. Furnace will be incoming soon though! -

A 2nd round gave me an additional 0.1" for a total so far of 0.94". Thanks to the rain, my "low" ended up happening around 7:30 pm this evening. About 7:45 pm, there was still some light rain but then the sun popped out in the west and that generated a rainbow! It's currently overcast but with a bright sky in the west as the sun hasn't set yet, and 70, with dp 70. As another note, my sis texted to say as they were racing to get out of the pool and inside, they saw a pine tree get uprooted and fall over (this was in Bala Cynwyd). I saw a Philly Inquirer breaking news alert too that PECO was reporting about 250,000 outages in the area due to that storm. -

My Delco sis was at a pool in a Bala Cynwyd apartment complex (where her niece and grandniece/grandnephew are) and she said the winds were so strong, they bent at least one metal sign in the parking lot of the apartment complex! I'm in a brief lull but picked up 0.84" in that short period of time. Temp is still 71 with dp 71. -

Had over 4"/hr rain with this fast-moving complex coming up from the SW. Have 0.81" in the bucket since it all started. Temp dropped like 15 degrees and it's down to 71 with dp 71. -

That is rare being in "Enhanced". I hit a high of 91 about 10 minutes ago with a dp of 79. I have now been transported to the swamps of Louisiana! Had bottomed out at 71 and it was already 85 by 9 am. Currently 88 with dp 78 at post time. -

Here we go! I bottomed out at 68 this morning and had 0.19" in the bucket from some overnight rain. It's currently mostly cloudy (sun popping in and out) and 82 with a horrible dp of 76. -

Better bottle this up because the long range doesn't look "cool". I did manage my first 90+ of the season last Thursday, actually hitting 91. And with all the rain threats that were progged, I actually ended up getting the most yesterday, with 0.60" for the plants. It's currently overcast and 64 with dp 64 and 0.01" in the bucket from some scattered showers. -

I ended up with a grand total of 0.04" out of it and have watched the line that was coming across from the west, just about disintegrate before my eyes. Looks like the 88 will be my high for the day after a 66 low. The temp has crept up with the sun out again and it's currently a partly sunny 81 with dp 68. -

Getting a pop up that is coming up from the south. Was putting some of my tender annuals out (finally), some near where they will be planted and the others on a table under my patio umbrella that was up. Saw it was getting dark so had to put the umbrella down as it was starting to rain so they could at least get a little water (had watered them when I bought them earlier this week but they need more today). Temp hit 88 earlier today before the rain knocked it back to the current 75 with dp 71. -

There was a very high layer of something like cirrocumulus early this morning, where I could occasionally see a star here and there but I expect that no aurora would break through that. I am unfortunately in the city and although "darker" compared to other areas, still not really "dark sky" and have lots of obstructions (trees/houses) to see anything faint. The chilly mornings have kept me from my usual schedule of putting my tender tropicals out "by or around Memorial Day" (they are still in the basement, but will try to get them out this week finally). My lows have been 48 the past 2 mornings and I am currently at 49 with hazy sunshine and a dp of 46. In other news, a doe delivered a Bambi in the front yard of my sister's nextdoor neighbor's house near their "run" (the herds travel between the houses from the street) and my niece texted a pic of it. The fawn was chilling in the grass while mamma was probably down at the creek at the bottom of the backyard getting a drink (that is usually where they go before heading back to the front and across the street). -
Happy (cold) June! But heat incoming later in the week. Finished up with 8.14" rain IMBY in NW Philly for May (16.81" for met spring) and I'm currently at my low of 49 this morning with dp 45.

Had 0,25" of rain yesterday and woke up to 0.73" this morning. There were a couple more rounds and pop-ups since with one adding 0.14" for 0.87" and the latest round giving me another quarter inch and I stand at 1.12" for the day so far (2-day 1.37"). Am up to 8.13" for the month so far. Got up to 74 for a high after bottoming out at 55 this morning and almost hit that again after that last rain pass! That temp drop was pretty dramatic, I currently recovered to 59 with dp 56 and it's mostly cloudy. -

A 992 low - almost a weak high! Now if it were a 963 then you'd be talking... The last 2 days, I ended up with 0.94" of rain (0.06 yesterday and 0.88" on Wednesday). Apparently more to come tonight and tomorrow. Am up to 6.76" for the month so far. Bottomed out at 60 this morning and got up to 80 as a high. Was actually surprised to see more sun today than expected. But then it was also more humid too. Currently partly sunny and 78 with dp 63. -

The scattered pop-ups mostly missed me yesterday (although my Delco sister got nailed by one but then got a cool double-rainbow at the end that she texted a pic of). But for the previous 3 days (5/21 - 23), I ended up with 1.20", which takes me to 5.82" for the month so far (vs 2.76" for April). Got up to 64 yesterday and bottomed out at 50 this morning. Currently a mostly sunny 51 and so far not as breezy as yesterday, with a dp of 45. -

Norman, OK re-upped the Watches! I did see the cells popping way west of here. When the sun came out, the temp started shooting up and I did hit a high (so far) of 77 just before 4 pm, when it started clouding up again. Currently 75 and cloudy with dp a juicy 70. -
