  1. And that wasn't even "real turf", it was "astroturf"!
  2. Here it is just after noon and I am at 97 with dp still 80. The Ambient station's "Feels like" is 118.
  3. Ugh. Already 92 and it ain't even 10 am yet. Dewpoint sitting at 80.
  4. Looks like after multiple attempts to go higher, I pretty much hit 95 as a high for today. Since I only reached 89 for a high yesterday, today starts my heatwave clock. Currently HHH with a bit of a breeze and 93, with a ridiculous dp of 80 (weather station has a "feels like" of 112).
  5. There is some nasty cell sitting over Wilkes-Barre! IMBY it's currently 94 with an obscene dp of 81.
  6. Welcome! I was born and raised in Mt. Airy but what I remember about '77 was the glacial winter, with sheets of ice formed after endless melting and refreezing. The winter of '78-'79 (my senior year in high school) broke a long time snow drought, and after the biggest storm, my sisters and I built a good-sized snowman on the front lawn, and we ended up getting "tourists" stopping or slowing to take pics. Currently sunny and 80 with dp a juicy 73.
  7. Down to light rain now and currently have 1.84" so far bringing me up to a whopping 8.09" for the month so far! Temp/dp now 69.
  8. Heard 2 separate instances of thunder and rates shot up to >3"/hr. Have 1.67" in the bucket at post time.
  9. Gully washer here with >2"/hr rates Have 0.67" so far and temp knocked down to 71.
  10. I know this won't be welcome in this group - Picked up 0.09" of rain yesterday for 6.25" for the month so far, and had a high of 76 after a 68 low. Currently 69 with dp 67.
  11. Got another hundredth of an inch yesterday for a 0.24" final and 2.80" 2-day event total. My high was 71 after a low of 64, and the drier air is trickling in. Currently a sunny 70 with dp 61. I've been following that Limerick site one as I figured exactly why the location was picked. I remember my senior high school physics class taking a field trip to Limerick back in 1979 while the plant was still under construction. I think the cooling towers had recently been completed. The PECO tour guide told us that once the plant came online, the average electric bill would drop to $3/month.
  12. I did ultimately finish up with 2.56" for day 1, mostly due to getting under several cells. Made it up to 86 for a high after a 67 low, before the rain knocked that down. With today's light overrunning precip., I have picked up 0.23" so far for a 2-day total o 2.79" and monthly total of 6.15". Despite that, I heard on the radio yesterday that we are still experiencing drought conditions here in the city (below as of the last update) - Currently light rain and 66 with dp 66.
  13. And here comes a huge round 4 that gave me upwards of 2.5"/hr rates and now have 2.56".
  14. Just got a light 3rd round. Round 2 gave me another 0.1" to get over the 2" mark and this round has me up to 2.06" so far, although a small cell looks to be coming this way from the southwest. Currently 71 & 70 dp.
  15. Currently in a rain pause at the moment with some iight rain just starting...although a weakening cell is off to my west but may scoot south of me. Highest rate briefly got up to >6"/hr. Temp 71/dp 70. Have 1.93" so far.
  16. Down to sbout 1.5"/hr with 1.88" in the bucket . Temp 70 dp 69.
  17. Gully washer. >3"/hr. Knocked trmpxdown to 71. 0.99" in the bucket .
  18. Thunderstorm Watches are up (am getting a lot of convection hits on my lightning detector) Also a warning over parts of Philly metro - Currently overcast and 78 with dp 69.
  19. Well here's something we haven't seen much of in awhile - Stuff was starting to brown up so need the rain. I have 3.36" for the month so far. Currently overcast and 71 with dp 64.
  20. Picked up 0.33" of rain yesterday, with a lot of sound and fury but not as much rain as expected but I take! Made it to 85 after a 67 low yesterday. Today it looks like I maxed at 94 just after 3 pm after a low of 71. Currently 89 with dp a horrid 77 and a STS was just lofted for the area (saw the line way out west and will see if it holds together) -
  21. I missed a 90 yesterday so no "heatwave". Made it to 89 after a low of 66. Didn't have high hopes for the line to hold together but it did. There appeared to be mixing of cooler air during the day though and eventually once the gust front came through, it knocked the temps down about 15 degrees ahead of the rain. I did get 0.26" out of that, my first rain for the month. Currently partly sunny and 84 (my high for the day so far) with lots of cumulus, after a low of 65, and dp is 68.
  22. And believe it or not, I managed to eke out another degree for my high and managed to get to 91 just before 4 pm. Otherwise it's currently mostly sunny an 86 with dp 59.
  23. Tapped 90 for the first time this month about 45 minutes ago, my 5th 90 or above temp for the year so far. Just missed it yesterday when I didn't get past 89. After a 65 low this morning, it's currently sunny and 89 with dp 60.
