Hey @Itstrainingtime did you happen to see that the Orioles became the first team in MLB history to beat every other team at least once in a single season. Obviously has only been possible for a small portion of that history but still a cool stat.

This is the route I take to PHL, on the rare occasion I've had to fly out of that place. Always try for BWI or MDT when possible.

Yeah I just missed out on some of those heavy cells. A mere mile or two to my north the Landisville area got over an inch. Still happy to get a nice watering. We have to quit thinking alike Training. I as well have had Allen as my fantasy starter for a couple of years but dropped him this year due to the same sneaking suspicions you had.

I'm surprised by the amount of popcorn on the radar. Had a tiny cell blow up right over me here but was too early in development to get much, merely spritzed.

Yep, crazy. Seems like a good time to re-up an article I've posted a couple of times previously on the history of the Harrisburg climate reporting sites. A complicated history indeed, and can be a bit messy to follow at times. Seems like CXY was used as the official site from 1939 to 1991. I love the blurb near the end on the "accuracy" of snowfall observations at MDT haha. Anyway, always worth a read. As we reach the one-third point of the month, MDT is rocking a +6.5 departure and sitting at an average temp of 78. Gonna be hard to knock that all the way back, particularly if we have another warmup after this cool spell, which seems possible. For the record, only two years in history have had a mean temp of greater than 72 -- 1961 and 1931.

Daily rainfall of .88" here. "Event" total going back to last Thursday of 1.8". Pleased. Looking forward to some fall-like weather moving in through the midweek. Anyone think Cape Cod needs to worry about Lee or do we think she'll be safely out into the Atlantic. NHC seems to think New England will be spared but some models say otherwise.

The atmosphere is really being wrung out today. It’s the opposite of a couple days ago, in that it’s really coming down today even when the radar isn’t overly impressive. I’m at about a half inch here.

The radar was plastered with storms and showers all around me all day and all night and I got…..nothing.

Total daily rainfall of .23” here, with multiple batches moving through. Had you gone off of radar only, you’d think much more fell. Alas, I will take it and be happy.

Just had some 35-40dbz overhead for a bit but barely anything fell. Looks like some more stuff firing to the southwest.

I had the same thoughts. Not feeling it today.

Total rainfall here yesterday of .69”. Also was surprised to see I got down to 64. Let’s see what today brings.

Just an absolutely incredible light show here from this latest batch. Have friends texting saying that this is the best lightning display they have seen in a long time and I can’t disagree with that. Also looks to have added about another half inch to my daily total. Will verify things in the morning. Off to a solid start over here.

Sitting on the train here in Harrisburg, where we had some nice wind but minimal rain. That line heading for Lancaster County looks nasty. I should be heading right into it here shortly!

I can assure you I would love that "boring" story, as I'm all too familiar with battles with the wife over such trivial matters haha. It's an Accurite 5-in-1 that has one of those solar powered fans that constantly pulls fresh air over the sensor to avoid spikes, which is why I'm fairly certain the fan is just pulling in some of the nearby super-heated air from above the black surface. The station seems to read dead-on outside of those sunny hours and in particular my overnight lows always align exactly as one would expect for my given location and elevation.

Low of 71 here. So, I've been meaning to bring this up for a while, but some of you may have noticed (although perhaps not ha) that I've only been posting low temps the last couple of months since I installed my new weather station. Well, that's because the new station has been prone to temp spikes of at least 3-5 degrees during the hours of peak solar irradiance. It can also wildly fluctuate during the midday hours in a way that would make MDT blush. I am 99% certain that the culprit is one of those black mesh shade cloths (similar to what is used at plant nurseries) that my wife put up on top of our pergola. The weather station is also attached to the top of the pergola and while not directly above the shade netting, it is within like a foot of where it ends and does sit a smidge higher. It is clear to me that the black covering is emitting some excess radiation that, depending on wind direction, is being picked up by the temp sensor and leading to the spikes and fluctuations. Anyway, the shade covering is coming down in October and I hope to have accurate daytime highs to report at that time. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Happy day-before-Friday!

Agreed, and just like that NWS has dropped my high for today from 97 to 93.

We’ll see what tomorrow brings. I know you’re a fan of the “last day always pops the highest” mantra ha. But yeah, I think overall that’s a fair statement.

I was there and I agree. A total program-shifting moment. As for weather, so to recap.......we broke the record Monday, tied yesterday's record, and have legit shots at today and tomorrow's records, which stand at 96. Quite the impressive event we've got going here. Then hopefully some rain and relief.
