  1. Failing to reach 50 would shatter daily records, I think they’re in the upper 50s both Sat/Sun.
  2. ARX forecast discussion mentions 1947.
  3. A degree or two could be enough to make the difference. But correct me if I’m wrong, doesn’t the official daily data actually run from 1am-1am during Daylight Savings Time? That would help some if it’s true.
  4. I have a feeling this phenomenon will screw both PIT and MDT on Saturday. (Midnight high temp)
  5. Eh, no different from rooting for winter storms IMO.
  6. I heard a bit of thunder this afternoon imby. Nothing of substance, but most severe weather days fail to produce much in Allegheny County, and this was no exception.
  7. Instability was garbage here this morning. Sun came out and temp jumped from 78 to 83 in an hour. I’m no expert either, but I wonder if that plays a role.
  8. PBZ must have wanted all of our counties in it. You people stole Garrett Co. from us, lol.
  9. The ones moving into CTP now seem to really want to form a line. Still discrete cells out west.
  10. That is a massive area. 56 PA counties and parts of 6 other states.
  11. NAM wants to blast us into the upper 70s, but even so, none of it looks like nearly enough to derail a below average month. We still need to average roughly 84/63 the rest of the month to even have a chance. Today is the only day that will even be close.
  12. For the most part, I agree. Love thunderstorms but the weather feature I despise the most is humidity. So conflicted.
  13. If the 12z NAM is correct, Friday could be much like today. Why does this humid crap always win in May these days?
  14. That looks like it would be the latest 30s on record for MDT, by almost a week.
  15. It’s looking like it could be at least 2 degrees below average. I don’t think it’ll even be close. Edit: could be a little closer now that Friday looks warmer. Most models get us close to or above 70 with the nasty dewpoints in the mid 60s making a brief return.
  16. To be fair, that’s a sentiment shared by the vast majority of people outside the Beltway. Most of us just don’t voice it in front of 15,000 other people.
  17. 3-5 days out and models are still struggling badly to predict the evolution of this pattern Fri-Sun.
  18. Looks like 87 unless we somehow get past that late. Meaning that’s very likely our high for May.
  19. Given the significant overlap of Red Sox fans with fans of another professional sports franchise I hate with a passion, that timing seems about right.
  20. That POS doesn’t represent our city.
  21. Can fans who went 86 years between championships be defined as spoiled brats? A philosophical question.
  22. There are a ton of spoiled brat fairweather fans in Pittsburgh, probably more than in most cities. That’s the biggest issue with our fan base, IMO.
  23. Ironic given the number of overcast, crappy days we have to put up with.
  24. Oh right, I forgot about that very obvious reason one would travel to Pittsburgh.
