  1. I hear ya but when has it not been spring weather the entire so called winter this year.
  2. Yeah I remember getting 6 inches and thundersnow out of that one. Places around Gaffney in northern Cherokee and Cleveland county got hammered with near a foot in some parts of the county.
  3. I'll take it anytime anyway I can get it. No matter what month day or time. We hardly get any in the best winters. March is fine by me. Anything to hold off spring and the heat and humidity around the corner. We have had spring around here in our so called winter this year. I'll take a March miracle.
  4. Yeah the fog has been bad the past couple of months in the foothills. Unless there's a miracle way down the road it looks like we could very well get blanked this winter in the southern foothills. It will be only my second winter in Rutherford county since starting in 1981-82 in the last 41 years not to record at least a trace of snow, sleet, freezing rain or anything in the frozen department. The only other time I got blanked was in the horrible winter of 2011-12. This winter would and probably will be the second snowless in the last 41 years. If it wasn't for that Christmas cold snap I would say this winter would be worse than 2011-12 with all the cold rainy days. I just don't know what to expect down the road later in February or March except rain and more rain and then some more rain.
  5. Looks like flooding issues around here next week. Nowhere to put anymore water. Currently 22 this morning.
  6. At least you have had flurries. I've been skunked so far just like 2011-12. Sure not looking good for these parts right now.
  7. I know man. I don't blame you. Just thought you might of been up to see it if it reached the ground. I just seen the radar down your way and thought I would give you a holler. Hopefully better luck for us all down the road this winter.
  8. Grayman, you better be up. You got at least some flurries or light snow headed your way believe it or not in the next few hours. Hope your up to see it.
  9. It's about go time for you guys. Send me a few flakes down into Rutherford county if you can. Sure wish I was up there to see it. Enjoy. Looks like your going to do real good up your way.
  10. Your right. Me and you and strongwxnc might actually have a shot at something. I'm afraid to go to bed and see the models tomorrow after seeing this.
  11. Sitting at 19 currently just south of Rutherfordton.
  12. Yes, very sad news today. Hated to hear this. I really enjoyed watching him give out the weather. He seemed like a genuinely good person. Prayers for both families through these difficult times. May they both rest in peace.
  13. I agree completely. I was thinking the same thing today. Been a long time to have such a powerful cold front in October that I can remember. Could you imagine the same kind of cold shot and what temperatures would be like if this was in January or February.
  14. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Sounds awful.
  15. Looks like a hard freeze in the mountains this coming weekend and our first frost threat outside the mountains for the southern foothills. The last time we had a early frost freeze was the first week of October 2014 for the southern foothills. It's been awhile. That's 3 weeks ahead of schedule for our area. I can't wait. Bring it. I love this weather. Bring the cold.
  16. Very refreshing 54 this morning. Love these cooler temps the last couple of mornings.
  17. That's just right down the road from me down 221. About 15 mins or so depending on what part of Chesnee it hit. Weather was pretty tame up here at the time it hit but you could tell sky's looked bad to the south toward Chesnee Sc. Possible EF-2 is what I'm hearing as of now.
  18. 31 degrees with a heavy freeze this morning in the southern foothills. Pretty cold for the end of April.
  19. Yes it has. I agree completely. Any time you can hold off the heat mid to upper 80s low 90s and humidity until the middle or latter part of May is always a win win in the south east because we know the heat and humidity is coming like you said and usually will be with us through the end of October if not later some years.
  20. I sure hope so. Hold off the heat and humidity as long as possible because you know it's coming soon than later. Keep the cold fronts coming through May.
  21. Low of 35 this morning with some pretty good frost after a predicted low of 40 last night just outside of Forest City. Temperature really dropped quick after midnight when the winds went calm. Surprised how much frost formed so quickly. If the winds die down tonight probably looking at a solid hard freeze tonight and Saturday night for the southern foothills and surrounding areas. Frost advisory already issued for Rutherford county and surrounding areas.
  22. Yes sir your exactly right especially at your elevation. You will be measuring snow well into spring up your way. Beautiful area up your way.
