  1. I'm OK with that. It was a solid winter. Really looking forward to the nicer weather this year.
  2. Guess we should just hide in our basements the rest of our lives.
  3. Bring it on. Frankly, I can't wait for the nice weather.
  4. That’s the year. I was in Florida on vacation and flew home the next day. Newark Liberty was open (likely running on backup power) but the lights were still out at home, so we dropped our bags off and found an open restaurant to keep cool in. Interestingly, the outage was more sporadic in my area. Some people never lost power. ‘77 was definitely a bad one. Lots of tension from the Son of Sam killings and the city was in economic turmoil. A lot of frustration spilled over when the blackout happened.
  5. I’m ready for spring by that point. The snow cover probably wouldn’t even last long.
  6. Is it possible that the virus is evolving to be less virulent? Would be great if it turned into a glorified cold or flu that didn’t require us to be so afraid of it.
  7. Only question is if we'll have to wait until May or June for it to actually get warm. Recent springs around here have been abysmal. The high was 45 degrees on Mother's Day two years ago.
  8. A lot of emotional and comfort eating, I'm guessing. I think a lot of people have been drinking more also. It's understandable...but it can be very difficult to break those habits.
  9. The blackout occurring on one of the hottest days of the year added to the legend of that summer.
  10. Is that acceptable to discuss? I’m sure someone would whine about fat-shaming if people emphasized the dangers of being overweight, especially in these times. You know, the same ones who love to lecture about science.
  11. ‘97-‘98 was misery for snow lovers. There weren’t even that many storms to track. I remember watching the Nagano Olympics that February and it was 70 degrees in New Jersey. There might have even been a thunderstorm or two.
  12. Sorry to hear. Had a good run though. Think it was around since 2007. Social media has really taken over in place of many forums such as that.
  13. Snowpacks are going to take some major body blows today and tomorrow with this steady rain and fog.
  14. 54 and golden sunshine out there right now. Feels damn good. Days like this make me ready for spring to start tomorrow. I'm satisfied with the winter we've had.
  15. I thought the variants were already here. Where’s the out of control spread? Honestly, I’m tired of the fear mongering. Life will never be free from risk. We have to move on at some point and just learn how to live with this. Not giving people some hope that things will return to a semblance of normalcy might also dissuade them from getting the vaccine. If things won't go back to normal, where's the payoff? We need some reassurance and morale boosters to let us know that all of these restrictions aren’t for nothing. Give people something to look forward to and it might give them the fortitude to hang in there for a bit longer.
  16. Fingers crossed. People have legitimately had enough. Someone brought up the latest virus news at work the other day and a colleague actually got visibly mad and asked the group to talk about something else. He didn’t lose anyone to Corona but he’s just tired of having all this rammed down his throat for the past year. It really does wear on you.
  17. That was a great spring. I remember going to a Devils game that March in shorts. Was waiting outside for my friends who were meeting me there and it was about 80 degrees.
  18. Same here. Can’t be good for the paint.
  19. I’m more than satisfied if that’s the case. Actually starting to look forward to the warmer weather. Will be nice to get back outside since so many other things aren’t available to us right now.
  20. Plucky little storm. It was snowing here until about 7 PM.
  21. That might have been more of a letdown than March 2001...and that’s saying something. Didn’t the massive precip shield just stall out 50 miles east of the city?
  22. First thing that came to my mind. Something was clearly going on that was off base. I read that he checked into the hotel on January 11th and his family reported him missing on February 10th. Regardless of what happened, a tragic story. I'm 38 myself so stories like this really hit home. He was fun to watch. RIP.
