Well, it has been a great run....but there goes the growing season. Already 38.7⁰ here, sub 32 by daybreak?

you need a woodstove.....It is amazing during October and November. A few hours of burning it and the house is well over 70°. The best part is, it only takes a few good pieces to get the temperature up to those levels....

At least it would be November snow, can check off the October snow omen....lol, I just want a freeze to kill off the mosquitos

There were definitely trees that got the fungus around here, they all turned brown and dropped 1-2 weeks ago. But those that kept their leaves, be it late are all turning a beautiful color right now...view from my backyard this afternoon.

I noticed the past few nights how odd it sounds around 11 pm taking the dog out. Besides being attacked by mosquitos, tons of summer sounds. Definitely not mid October sounding. If we can't catch Monday or Tuesday nights cool down, will probably have to wait until the end of the month for the first frost....

the one positive is we will be able to grow food in areas that never had much of a growing season....if it rains of course. I think the biggest concern outside of coastal and already baked regions are the diseases from ticks and mosquitos...EEE is one where the later the freezes take, the longer that virus can spread in a region. Naegleria fowleri and Vibrio infections from warmer water are other issues that seem to be increasing year after year right now. It isn't just lack of A/C in northern regions and less ice unfortunately

It has been a rough stretch otherwise, even when it wasn't cloudy and raining, we had smoke to deal with...worst performing summer since I had the system installed.

Deja-vu on the 12z Euro, 2 southern/late developer misses, followed by a massive storm about ready to cut to our west....Thank God this is October and not January. Unless this pattern completely collapses, It does look like a fun winter incoming at least for tracking purposes, hopefully we are on the right side of some when all is said and done....

I lived in central Delaware at the time....unreal how much snow we got, pretty sure I have more snow in that year than I did in the next 5 combined. Crazy thing was, how fast all of that snow melted. That first snow in December, pretty sure I had 32", it was completely gone by Christmas, including most of the piles

Hopefully not a preview for what happens when it actually gets cold enough to snow......

Well the 12z Euro would be wonderful if it were January, but mid October that is brutal....Especially with the weather we have dealt with recently.

My desert like region has all but dried out, but other areas such as the parks and sports fields around here are still ponds/swamps, breeding mosquitoes. We need a freeze and some dry weather, no precip until November please....unless of course that is a precursor to a snowless winter, then by all means rain away

They can't keep canceling the kids baseball and soccer, at this point they will be rescheduled for the Spring....

Being a fan for this long, I fully expect the bottom to fall out at some point. But they have been exciting with Tua at QB, he just needs some protection. Next week is the first true test...
