  1. Front just passed through here at 7:40 with a 20 mph gust...was 52.3° at that time...temp is now 43.3° and dropping, now we wait to see if that precip in E. New York can bring the quick burst of some snow or just some weakening showers and 35 degrees....
  2. 21.6 for the low, 26.8 right now, colder than expected with the clouds rolling in now
  3. 23.0 here right now....amazing the difference a few miles makes.
  4. I know it is the GEFS, but is that a -NAO showing up along with some ridging out west towards the end of the run?
  5. High of 34.9° temp already down to 31.8°....First teens of the season if the wind dies down later on
  6. High pressure building in with that low to the south, Miller B?
  7. Snow for Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee before SNE? I guess this pattern, this early would do something like that...
  8. I have always put my mower down to the lowest level on the last cut, it keeps the leaves from sticking in my yard when the wind blows.....plus even with a dusting of snow, the yard is covered....
  9. Just looked outside and have some flurries flying, first of the season...30.9 atm
  10. Read an article that said to leave the leaves on the ground. Gives the insects a place to hibernate. Ah, no. yeah, I hear ticks love to have warm and cozy places to sleep....I remove all leaves and cut the grass extra short at the end of the year, everything you are not suppose to do, but no ticks>green grass
  11. Thats good to hear, hopefully the trend continues...I saw this morning that the AO continues to push negative, more a positive PNA and even a hint of a -NAO (obviously voodoo at this point) but at least it is something. It would be nice to see something the first week of December for the first time in 15 years?!?!
  12. Wasting cold air in early November, sadly it might be our coldest air until January/February... The second half of November and most of December look pretty fairly warm. I can see why some are panicking already, writing off December already.
  13. Thanks....down to 39, she has a nice ice cream treat waiting for her if she gets it!
  14. I had my kids pick on October 15th the dates of the first snowflakes and the first inch of snow measured....Today was my daughter's pick for the first flakes of the season, hoping for her sake we can at least see a few mangled flakes mixed in. Not bad for an 8 year old....
  15. Besides the snow talk, are the temperatures even realistic on the 18z GFS? It has 850 temps near -19°C on Wednesday! Kinda nuts for November 13th....
  16. Front just went through here....46 to 41 in 10 minutes with gusty winds, hoping to see the first flakes of the season!
  17. knowing what it was showing for our FROPA today in that 4-5 day time frame, I will take its current look...It looked as though the cold was pressing further south and east around day 4, onto 0z....
  18. At least the GFS solution sort of makes sense at this point. Nothing historical, just a light to moderate snow event for the middle of November....
  19. For what ever reason, the 6z and 18z Euro runs were flatter early on. I wonder if there has been any accuracy tests against its own 0z and 12z runs. They definitely seemed to contradict eachother with this particular system...
  20. I think someone pointed out a day or 2 ago that the Ukie was really flat while the Euro was dumping 1-2 feet of snow up north with a "deepening" low pressure...That really might be a good sign that the Euro is out to lunch despite it's own ensemble support? Obviously it won't happen every time, but something to store away for later on.... Obviously we still have a couple days to go, but it seems more FROPA at this point....
  21. GFS cold bias giving hope where there is none? If this is true, it is going to wreak havoc this winter in borderline situations...
  22. My wife works in Tarrytown, right off of Sawmill. I had her leave 1 hour before the snow started....Some of her co-workers ended up spending the night or were stuck for hours on the highway.
  23. Perfectly clear day causes nightmares on 84..Looks like winter around here now, so lets get some early snowfall as long as it doesn't jinx us the rest of the season.
