Back from dropping my daughter off at uni, which is always kind of depressing. Some good storms to track and experience would help immensely with that.

Dropped #2 off last night.  Luckily he is at Towson University, but still miss him. :-(

#3 (my baby)is going to Drexel and they have classes on a quarter term, so I get 3 more weeks of her before she has to go.  Going to be very quiet here this year.

I don't think people realize how lucky we are to be average temps with a 597dm ridge over us. We're dodging freight trains here weather wise this year.

Agreed.  I have teammates in Phoenix and Austin and consistently hear about the heat.  The peeps from Omaha and St. Louis also occasionally have been hit.  We have had a very bland summer and should be happy for it.

On another note, it is a great time to have a broken air conditioner unit.  The kids are all going away to school and I have a portable room unit i can use for the bedroom until I get it fixed. :-)  Am not looking to shell out tons of cash yet for a new unit.

It's still ongoing. Yesterday was "hot" here. Around 80. Heading to Yorkshire Dales tomorrow, but the weather looks more showery.

If you are still there over the weekend, you should try to find a local pub and watch a premier league game since this is the opening weekend for the season.

It’s a 2 game losing streak against a good team. Think it’s a bit premature call it any of that.

    .

You are correct, Houston is a really strong team with a lot of experience too..

Maybe I had a bad day yesterday, but just had a bad feeling after giving all of those runs up late in both games.  I know that Bautista will recover, but it seems like the middle relievers are just  walking way too many batters in the past few weeks and that is concerning.

I also hope they don't play down to their opponents level with some of the weaker teams coming up on the schedule.

Unless there's more to the story, what an embarrassment the Os ownership is.

    John Angelos is really pathetic.

I know this is not earth shattering news with how little and sad the Angelos' are but wow. Awful.

I can't explain how embarrassing this is to the whole organization.  Kevin Brown was reporting factual information everyone can look up. The other issue here is that that segment was produced, not just an off comment made on the air.  There was a graphic and more than likely it was part of the story line for the series in Tampa.  I really hope this isn't another Jon Miller debacle.

Sports team owners need to just need to put the money up and sit back.  Heck it isn't even his money....

With Bautista and Cano not available it made it interesting but they got the win.

Who's their center fielder now? Hicks injured.

Cowser?   The team definitely has the next man up mentality, so they should be fine. How long is Hicks out for, I thought it was only a cramping issue.

The shame of being a WTF fan is finally over. That little asshole got a big payday but he’s gone as owner now

I do like the nice fine they gave him on the way out the door.  Odds he takes them to court?

  8. Went to the game yesterday and it is a great feeling to not worry when going down 2-0 in the top of the first.  This team has so much drive and they never quit.  A much different face of the franchise than before last year.  It's refreshing to see.

I think grod was overthrowing in the first inning

things would have been different if Hicks didn't misplay that fly ball.  I knew he thought that he was closer to the wall, but but he didn't need to jump to catch it.

The "culture infection" can certainly be a concern. As I said, my younger son tended to qualify for all-star meets as he grew older...and I despised going to them, because of the arrogance, the cockiness, the outright unsportsmanlike conduct that (often, not always) reared its ugly head once you started competing with swimmers and their families from, say, the top 5 divisions in NVSL. Absolutely hated it.

I'm really enjoying the the read on the swim teams and am happy to see that all of kid's sports are a mess and not just the ones my kids participated in.   I can tell that you all are in it for the right reasons and your children will be better because of it.

The sad thing is that so many people put a focus on succeeding in sports over the benefits of learning how to work hard and be part of a team.  Realistically, there is no career path for almost all of these kids within their selected sport and it makes me sad to see that this attitude exists.  Even if you are able to play a sport in college, there is a good chance that you won't play a lot , especially in your first year or two.  I have seen so many of my children's friends go to a school for a sport and lose interest after freshman year.

Every time I hear you all talk about the snootiness of some of the upper clubs, I think of one of my favorite episodes of an older British comedy I'm posting a pic from.  FOr those of you who remember the show, enjoy....."I've got a Porsche"

Woof. Glad I didn’t stay up and watch the O’s last night.

It was miserable in person.  Left fight before Adley hit his HR.

Heading back today since softball was cancelled.  They can't have 2 stinkers in a row, right?

Quick PSA -- I was kinda bombarded over the past couple weeks with news, award alerts, etc. about a show on FX called The Bear. On a whim, my wife and I started streaming the show on Hulu over dinner last night (there are now two seasons)...and we PLOWED through the first half of season one just last night. SO damn good...great cast, witty writing, compelling scenario (set in an Italian beef takeout in Chicago, with the requisite family/interpersonal struggles). We haven't been sucked into a streaming show this quickly ever. The show's first episode is...chaotic...but stick with it. The hype is real, and I highly recommend it.

I haven't watched it yet, but the one actor was on shameless and was fantastic.    How is he on this one?

HoCo force field in full effect. I actually would like these storms to pass on through as I'll be at Merriweather for the Weezer concert. Luckily decided on seats and not lawn!

Took my daughter and her friends last night.  We had seats in the pavillion and they chose lawn.  Luckily nobody sat behind us and we snuck them, in just as Weezer started :-)

It was a great show...hope you enjoyed!

I was able to see sunspots using my S23 Ultra's camera. I can DEFINITELY "feel" the poor AQI now. Noticeable cough this morning. The odor isn't really like that nice bonfire odor either - it almost smells like fabric burning.

Same here with my S21 Ultra.  I took the picture and the camera "processed" it for me and they went away.  Any luck with settings to keep the sunspots on the image?
