Interesting rain shower this morning in Adelphi driving the kids to school. It came out of nowhere. Looking at the sky you just saw cirrus clouds and blue. We weren't under any nimbus or low deck clouds. Just blue sky with wispy clouds and it was a moderate rain shower for like a few minutes. You could see the rain in the sky but above and around it was blue and cirrus. First time I experienced that.

Had that here too but also heard some rumbles of thunder as a few of the showers passed.

    You saw a great game

It was.  A lot of good defense getting runners on the basepaths and at home.  Only sour part of the night was the late drop in CF.  Young had control issues, but was able to get out of some jams.  I really hope they are able to get some help for Alonso next year.  He is the guy you build a team around.

Definitely hasn't made them a contending team. But I think they'd  be double digits under .500 at this point with out him. He's put the offense on his back the entire month of August.

I keep waiting for an announcement for a Rodgers extension. I kind of thought maybe something was in the works when they didn't trade him at the  deadline.

    don't ask me why.....going tonight.

Strange to have a Friday game to kick off the season, but I’ll take it.

Spurs fan here…can’t be any worse than last year!

I feel Sorry for you.  But you are right, has to be better.  I've been a United Man, but they frustrate me too.  My son is a huge Chelsea fan.  Hopefully they all stick it to Arsenal this year.

Same song and dance. And guess what? The hitting didn't show up again. It's pretty simple to see why this team will go nowhere. Some of the more un-clutch players I've seen. For every one time they succeed, they fail another 4. Sigh

    Where's football season?

Premier league starts tomorrow for those of you who enjoyed the World Cup.

Seems like we got positive news, just got to shell out the $$$ and get the replacement part

My guy is here now replacing the coil.  Here's to getting our climate control fixed today!

Thermostat says the blower motor faulted for us. Seems like that should be a straightforward repair? But I’m nervous because when we had hvac issues in summer 2021 it turned into a 22 visit (yes, 22) summer-long fucking debacle.

:-(.   Like the fact that your thermostat can tell you that.  Have you checked the Capacitor?  if blower motor, I would think it is a little more expensive than just capacitor, but not as much as a coil.

Not an expert here, but just guessing from the issues I have seen in the past.

Our HVAC broke last evening so yeah, strong agree from me

Mine has been down since the 9th. Luckily I have a different unit upstairs so it hasn't been too bad.  Also have a room unit on wheels in the middle of the first floor keeping it mostly cooler.  The coil had a leak and lost all the freon and is being replaced today.  Lucky it was covered under warranty, but the labor isn't. :-(

You don't need to worry about them. They'll be okay, and if they're driving distance or on an Amtrak line (Go Hoos!) then you can always be there if they need it. Besides, I've been told most people love college! I myself thought it wasn't quite worth the hype, but even then I'm doing well, and I'm not anything special so your kids will be fine too.

My daughter goes to Drexel and loves taking the train home.  Even has started to visit other friends in NYC.  Great way to travel, and usually the tickets cover the cost of gas/tools/parking and the aggravation of driving.

Sorry to hear that. I have a colleague whose son just graduated with an engineering degree from a good school and can’t even get an interview.

It's tough, but you just have to keep pushing them.  AI and social media sites have made finding a job extremely difficulty when first starting out.  In most cases, you have to know someone to get even an interview.

Really need good weather today and tomorrow as I am moving kid #3 into college this weekend after moving kid #2 into college earlier this week.  #parentlife

I know we have a few empty nesters here but have 2/3 of my kids out of the house is gonna be weird and hard to adjust to for a while.  Will be fine over time but man, its a change.

Just wait....in a few years they can move back in when they are looking for jobs :-)  I have two at home looking for their "Adult" jobs.  THe older one had one after graduation but his company was folded into Staples and was laid off.  The other graduated in December and is an applied math major sending resumes everywhere. Nice to have them home, but it can be a struggle seeing all they are trying to do and nothing.

These would be perfect on some scrambled egg ice cream. Someone needs to invent that

Just got a juicer last week.  Nothing better than a fresh glass of beet, apple, cucumber, lemon, ginger juice to wake you up.  :-)

A 7.6” CoCoRAHS report from central WV!

HoCo was a relative jackpot it looks like. 3.54” in downtown Columbia where I was getting soaked running to the movies and @canderson was at merriweather.

Same in Frederick.  Luckily the rain moved out before we left the theater.  Hope you at least enjoyed the flick.

I’m going to be in the theater watching odyssey tomorrow evening when my roof gets torn off in the derecho

Same here.  I think our show is at 7:00 in Frederick.  Hopefully everything passes before then.

I was at the O's game last night. Besides the two defensive mistakes by the infield (only one of which was an error). The O's did not do terrible. The score did not reflect how close it was IMHO.

I agree.  Was working some summer league games and got in the car at 3-2 and listened to the wheels fall off.  They had 2 runners thrown out at the plate in extra innings in the past 2 weeks which could have changed the outcome of both games.  Right now they are making fundamental errors which major league players shouldn't.  Offensively, they are horrible.  I do think Coswer is trying to get more selective at the plate, but still can't hit breaking balls.  Neither can Mayo.  And who knows what is in Henderson's head since the first month. I feel bad for Baz since he gets no run support. A lot broken right now and it is probably too much to fix.

  16. So frustrating to watch the lack of accountability on a day to day basis.  They are making minor league mistakes on simple infield defensive plays and don't forget the baserunning gaffes.  THe players are accountable at this level, but the coaching should also be held accountable.  Definitely need to make some major changes before they get any better.  Makes me wonder why they don't get someone like Joe Madden to come in and clean house.
