  1. Been snowing for hours and hours at this point. Visibility is actually pretty low. Gotta be at least 4-5” at this point.
  2. It’s falling completely as freezing rain. It’s been like this for hours now.
  3. As someone who has never seen an ice storm and definitely does not want one. These maps are a little scary. I’m hoping we just end up as rain. I have always heard a half inch of ice is devastating.
  4. Sorry bro. Thankfully you can go with the Cubs mentality of always next season.
  5. Blizzard warnings discontinued for MA except for eastern coastal MA.
  6. I’d say top 5 for my lifetime. I’m 33 and have lived in New Bedford my whole life, unfortunately.
  7. Well that’s it here. Was honestly amazing. I don’t think hit blizzard criteria but it must of been really damn close. NWS says 18.5” for New Bedford, all the locations are southern NBMA though, really think north end did better, maybe by a few inches.
  8. Blizzard conditions were reached at several locations across Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Light snow began late at night on Friday, January 28. Snowfall totals of 1 to 2 feet were common across the region. Wind gusts reached hurricane force on Cape Ann, Cape Cod, and Nantucket during the storm. The definition of a blizzard is that falling and/or blowing snow reduces visibility to below 1/4 mile along with winds that frequently gust to 35 mph or more. These blizzard conditions must be the predominant reported condition for at least 3 consecutive hours. When reviewing whether a particular observation location had blizzard conditions, we considered visibilities equal to 1/4 mile because that is quite low for an automated sensor to be able to detect in snow or blowing snow. As of 530 PM on Saturday, January 29, some snow was still occurring across the region, so we will issue a more complete report, listing durations of blizzard conditions, early next week. However, in the meantime, we can confirm that the following locations did meet blizzard criteria today... In Rhode Island... Providence (KPVD) Westerly (KWST) Newport (KUUU) Block Island (KBID) In Massachusetts... Boston (KBOS) Worcester (KORH) Beverly (KBVY) Hyannis (KHYA) Marshfield (KGHG) Martha`s Vineyard (KMVY) Stations at Chatham (KCQX), Falmouth (KFMH), Provincetown (KPVC), and Smithfield (KSFZ) were unable to be determined because they stopped reporting wind, visibility, or all data.
  9. Snowed for the last 28 of 32 hours here in New Bedford. Granted the early snow never stuck. We have to be really close to 2 feet here.
  10. I’m at 16 hours straight of moderate to extremely heavy snow. Can’t wait to see some of the totals.
  11. Guessing 18” here or close to it. Think we can hit 2 feet.
  12. Hearing power outages for Fairhaven and the west end of New Bedford.
  13. I have no idea how much snow we have. I went for a walk around the block and would say maybe 14”? The drifts are making it’s almost impossible to tell what’s OTG. It’s a lot of snow for sure, cars are almost gone. Can hear the wind ripping outside and when I was walking into the wind it was unbearable. Hoping we can make it to 2 feet.
  14. Been a solid 5 hours now of moderate to heavy snow. Still have hours and hours to go and still haven’t gotten into the real good stuff.
  15. Coming down pretty good right now, snow is coming down almost completely sideways.
  16. Have an 1 1/2 so far, 32 degrees. Went for a walk and it’s basically perfect snowball snow right now.
  17. Probably 1-4-1/2” here. Should have an inch in the next 30 minutes.
  18. Isn’t this what most mets here were saying would happen?
  19. Looks like our first decent band for SEMA is about to move in.
  20. Looks like every flake is sticking right from the get go. Something that you don’t see too often in this area.
