Yes, but that snow wasn't really that great. Good for a March snow, no doubt, but not really a very exciting event. Sent from my Pixel 7 Pro using Tapatalk Eta - went back and found a pic - pretty, but barely covered the driveway.

Idk, I get moth fever hard by April so even out by DCL I don't like seeing snow that late! Speaking of mountains...I was the first person on the summit of Mount Rainier this past August when me and a co-worker climbed. We got the summit all to ourselves for 45min as the sun came up with 20 below wind chills. I even had to pee on the summit during which time I deduced that I was making the highest elevation pee in the entire lower 48 (airplanes aside) that morning. Life milestone achieved. I'll fall on the sword, March is too late for snow for me. I'm ready to start gardening and for moth season by then. But I'm in SoMD and we haven't had any good storms down here in March since I've been here so I'm ok with you guys getting a big storm and me missing out. Sloppy wet snow isn't worth it in my book.

You should go ask them how much snow we historically get at DCA in March.

Jan/Early Feb Medium/Long Range Discussion Part 3
IronTy replied to WinterWxLuvr's topic in Mid Atlantic
I've only been down here in Maryland for 19yrs, so 09-10 I had been here for five years. I wish I knew then what I know now - I sort of just figured those types of monster storms were not common, but relatively regular. Knowing what I know now I think I would have taken a lot more time off work to enjoy it and play in the snow to savor how awesome that winter was. If I was still in my 20s maybe I'd more to Alta, UT to live in the snow. Now in my 40s that seems a little too much, but man, life regrets. -
True that. I just washed the X on Saturday, had some salt spray on it. Looks like a good decision as it should stay clean for a while.

WTF that low pressure started down in like Venezuela. It'll probably end up in Tug Hill before it's done. -
That week sucked. I got maybe 3" of wet snow. What a milquetoast winter. Hrumphf.

That's the rarest "Embryonic Pattern" -
We all gotta start somewhere..

Newts and Spotted salamanders are out in force tonight. Spotted salamanders usually breed in my pond around thos time of year on mild wet nights...like last night and tonight. Moderate rain down here now.

My game cam up at 3k feet near DCL shows all the snow (at least a foot) has melted in the past two days. Booo.

I hate the term gravity waves....means something very different in astrophysics! -
I was just out felling some trees and with chaps on I was sweating up a storm. 72F and sunny.

If we can just get it to connect to itself over the Atlantic then we will have recycling, perpetual snow, 24/7. I don't think snow was mentioned anywhere in Genesis though. -

Does that translate to 7" at DCA? -

Then who's data has been deemed acceptable for the subforum - can you provide it? -

I mean yeah, no duh areas north and west get more snow and later. But DC is the largest city central to this subforum and has good historical data so that's what I look at. If I'm looking for a 5" snow then ok, March is in the game...but a MECS or HECs...historically the odds are basically zilch. -

IronTy replied to WinterWxLuvr's topic in Mid Atlantic
There has been a number of posts about how we're still in the game well into March in this thread. So I went and looked at historical snow totals at DCA by month. According the the data I saw, we've only gotten double-digit snow totals for the entire month of March twice in recent eras. Once I think was 2014, and before that it was either was like 1959 or 1969 or somewhere there about. So I don't get where the March optimism comes from. Eta, went and found the data again, it was 1960. -
I picture snow polyannas shouting down the cassandras in a desperate veiled attempt to deny their own insecurities while popping Xanax and Wellbutrin by the handful.

Maybe the models are better now and they're not wrong anymore.
