    Isn't that pretty much what we always do? Usually that's the only timeframe to see a storm anyway.

    I imagine the halcyon days of the weather forums, when only Very Serious People(tm) were allowed to make a thread and when one was posted up, VSP's called in sick to work, abandoned their spouses and children and really went to work analyzing the model outputs via manually-performed tensor calculus for days on end. Finally presenting their findings to the other VSP for peer review and submittal to NOAA for official forecast consideration.

    No that was off the euro weeklies into third week of Feb. Eta, he still likes the pattern and just a couple hours earlier posted up about 2010 similarities...so he's got his bases covered.

    Well JB just posted up that he doesn't like the weakening block and the highs heading over Siberia on the latest runs. That's about as good of a contrarian signal as we can ask for - lock it in.

    How do you get them? I've been bitching that WB doesn't have soundings for years now and all this time there's been a way to get them?

    It was pouring rain here in the morning when that storm started. Ended up with around a foot of snow though. I was sure it was gonna just stay as rain it felt so warm out when I woke up.

    Man used to get my kicks posing in front of a bunch of dudes in basically just a speedo and I've raised moths for over 35yrs. Learned not to take myself very seriously, especially on the Internet. I find it hilarious that we argue over the weather when it's literally the thing in life that we basically have the least control over in the entire world. Having a warm weather hobby (or five) to look forward to every year helps during these late winter suck pattern doldrums.

    To be fair, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Southern Maryland or Eastern shore back then.

    I was only 13yo and still living in Michigan for that storm. Naturally we didn't have any real effects there but I remember watching the weather channel non-stop with my dad and being so jealous of all you guys. Eta I'm sure Jim Cantore was the one reporting it for them.

    Must've been warm ground, looks like 3" on the grass here based on my pics. Don't have any pics of the elevated deck so maybe there was more on that.
