  1. My 9yr old niece lives in Durham and really hoping y'all get slammed in the Triangle!!!
  2. He is the new Chief Meteorologist at WBTV. But noone can replace Eric Thomas!!! However Al Conklin has been known to be a snow lover!!
  3. I'll take 5-6" and skip through my neighborhood! Would be most snow I've seen in the 15yrs I've lived in Concord.. :-))
  4. My sister lives in Enochville just N of Kannapolis. I live in Concord..almost in Harrisburg. I may just pack a bag and stay with her. Could have 6-8" at her place while I enjoy sleetmageddon imby... Can't chance that. Hmmmm
  5. Was 21 in Concord last night... down to 26 here at 5am... should fall another degree or two.
  6. Would love to see Charlotte and Raleigh have one as well. 4yrs in Charlotte since we have had over 2" for the entire winter. Long overdue
  7. I grew up in Rockwell but live in Concord now.(Roberta Mill near Harrisburg) and it blows my mind the difference it made moving 15-20miles south of Rockwell has made. I mentioned hwy 73 yesterday. You are 100% correct. Mt.Ulla usually does well tho... good luck!
  8. Hey guys... A Storm can create it's own cold air right?. What's that called and could we see it with this storm? Thx
  9. I'm in Concord but yeah, I may follow suit and spend some time with you guys for awhile. But, as I posted on main thread... For what it's worth. On Sunday AccuWeather has Concord at 31 with snow and "potential for a winter storm". Last night they had me at 36 with wintry precip. It's AccuWeather so who knows... but man it sure felt good to see all snow flakes for Sunday... I know it'll change a few times still before onset, but I'm going to go stare at those flakes for a bit... haha
  10. For what it's worth. Last night AccuWeather had Concord at 36 degrees with wintry precip for Sunday. They have changed Sundays forecast to 31 degrees with snow, stating a Winter Storm is possible. I'm just gonna stare at that for awhile....
  11. This looks as good as anything I've seen posted so far! Am I missing something??
  12. Ohhh it's so hard to stay optimistic about this one. I know nothing about the model runs... I base my forecast off of being a native. I'm gonna hang in until this thong turns into a southern soaker for all of us. History tells us that most Southern winter storms come down to now casting for those of us E of 77 and S of 40. FINGERS CROSSED
  13. What's with the L in N Alabama? Wasn't it in the FL panhandle at lunch?? Sheesh
  14. Can the endless chatter regarding WRALs silly % map go somewhere else please. Thx
  15. Thoughts about the wknd? Concord here

  16. Call me crazy...and I am.. but talking this storm up(especially it being on a wknd) is good for the economy... period. Grocery stores, Hardware stores, certain clothing items...etc. perfect opportunity to clear some shelves and rake in the $$$.Capitalism at it's best... '-/
  17. This thing is sooo far out yet. I'm going to take a deep breathe and enjoy the dance over the next few days. 35yrs of watching winter weather in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties and I've seen forecasts for storms that literally never developed(yikes) to storms that developed by the minute('93). Keep in mind we see our biggest snowstorms from mid Feb to mid March outside the high country. Hopefully the fun is just beginning...
  18. Afton Village is awesome.. A bit congested these days.. but.... winter wx in Cabarrus County literally makes me crazy. I'm basically on the border w/ Harrisburg between 29 and 49. It's all about now-casting in these parts.
  19. Concord- Hate anyplace N of HWY 73 .... I REALLY hate anyplace N of HWY 152
  20. Can you imagine all the meteorologist from N.Alabama, N.Ga, SC Upstate, and all of NC are already beating their heads against the wall. Wonder when Brad Panovich will post something???
  21. Concord here.. already screaming. I know how this plays out imby. Snow ..ice..more ice.... we do better when the ULL swings through at the end. Meanwhile I'm already hating myself for following this thread...
  22. For those that are robbed by the warm nose during "main" event... the upper level low the next day becomes the main event very often.
  23. The good news is more favorable pattern shift for snow. The bad news is the warm nose has really screwed Concord the past 10yrs. No doubt global warming is a factor. Still a good 75 days for a perfect setup. We are all due another 93 or 96
  24. Large Snow flakes quickly mixing here in Concord. I cannot believe my eyes.!!!! I don't even care if it sticks. Enjoy all. And loving the pictures!
