  1. Obviously area specific, but my area has done better with snow the last 3 years than several 80s winters i lived through. Sure maybe we've had a little more rain, but the pattern is quite similar. It sucks that all my old weather diaries were lost in a move, it was all in them
  2. Not necessarily, we had many a winter where good size storms would come through as pouring rain, and then cold as soon as the storm departed. SO many times the weather Channel 7 day had snow, and you'd slowly watch the forecast maps morph to rain as the storm approached.
  3. Got that right. Earlier evolutions had it shunted southeast
  4. 12Z GFS trying for the Blizz of '78 TRACK on Feb 4th, backs the low right over Long Island. Obviously will change a thousand times between now and then
  5. I'm not greedy like some here, I'll take anything that gets the ground white. As of this morning we're down to about 40 percent coverage in the yard at home. Surprised there's anything left with the heavy rain overnight. 36 degrees
  6. Curls back up under SNE instead of out to sea to the southeast. Way too early to know if it's really any good yet though... and the long range GFS solutions just look strange lately, not sure what to make of it
  7. 6Z GFS suddenly has a vastly different solution for next weekend with the "clipper"
  8. 18Z GFS looks more... interesting than the Euro? I didn't get to look at the 12z yet so I can't say whether it looks better or worse
  9. Worked out pretty well for me so far, but I still wish I could move up to the Berks. As far as this system, we all should know this isn't done trending one way or the other
  10. Kind of what the Euro was showing last evening. And then the low chasing the low up the coast several days later is interesting
  11. Same thought / question here. Get that little kinked wave involved more. EDIT: I see Tip already answered
  12. The key if you can is staying off the limited access highways and trying to take back roads if you're able to. Way too many people get sucked into taking the highway and it is the absolute worst place to be during any sort of snow event
  13. That's the biggest load of Horse Hocky I've ever heard, especially seeing what it does to newer vehicles. Got to love marketing
  14. Exactly. I seriously doubt there will be two distinct low pressure centers either. I think I've seen the GFS try that one before..
  15. Clear Lane actually... WAY more metal eating than old fashioned salt. Stuff is terrible
  16. That would be fun, but good luck with that. We got really really spoiled in this area for many years, the '80s have to come back through the door at some point
