  1. I see it as a sign of the times as in how certain individuals personalities have changed, and how they react to situations and other individuals. It's quite evident even in my daily life. Dealing with attitudes of those under 30 is QUITE different to say the least. That feel or attitude seems to show up in these forums, just like our daily work life. I'd love to blame it all on social media, but that certainly isn't all that's caused it. On another note, I don't think it's logical to call recent winters fleeting as if we'll never have another good one again. I've lived through too many long stretches that were worse than this. It was only a couple years ago we had a couple that were really good, and some more than that only a couple years prior
  2. Thanks for moving them here. It's easy to see something you want to respond to without realizing it's in the wrong thread...
  3. 80s were far worse... speaking of the general SNE area
  4. After yesterday afternoons squall, in Westfield I'm at 17.75". In Simsbury I don't know exactly, but I believe about 12.5"
  5. I have certainly observed what you're talking about. It seemed to me things changed when the Effyouweather board shut down... coincidence? Then again, there are a lot of younger posters who probably just got spoiled with great snow years and this is the 2020s so. It amazes me how some complain that a 2 to 4 deal sucks. I've lived through many years when we could barely buy those
  6. Really coming down here in the last 15 minutes. Looks like we've got close to a half an inch with this last round
  7. That looks like about all we are going to get. We had about 10 minutes of heavy wind and graupel but it's already lightening up
  8. Squalling to beat the band in Westfield
  9. Thanksgiving 89... I was lucky enough to be there for the holiday. Forecast for a dusting to an inch in the AM... ended up somewhere about 17 inches
  10. I made a comment on it this morning... and for some reason it was removed?? No idea, but lots of others have said the same thing today so... Weather wise, I for one don't think this coming week is decided by any means, just look at the ensembles adjusting themselves. Also if we only get a region wide 2 inches, whats wrong with that? IMO Too many here who don't learn the weather history of their areas
  11. 17 inches here this season so far, not terrible. After living here several years, I still don't know the average snowfall for Westfield MA... At least we're tracking something and the pattern certainly looks better in general than last season
  12. Now the 20th is showing up again on the 6Z GFS. Wasn't it John who mentioned he wouldn't be surprised if we saw this happen a couple days back? I said wait til at least 12Z today before writing off the 16ths trends.. we'll see
  13. Show me the 12Z run tomorrow after the cutter, then we can talk about the evolution. Gut says we don't miss to the south
  14. Doesn't matter either way... shouldn't even run that far out. Maybe trying to set up for the 20th
  15. Sounds like something Will would have available
  16. Yeah 78 was much longer lasting, especially the aftermath! No school for 5 days after. One thing I'll say every time I mention that storm... the totals were WAY off in some areas. I had measurements from our house in Granby, my grandfather from the utility company in Simsbury and others. We had 28 inches in Granby and was told 25 in Simsbury. Official totals are far less... and I don't believe them
  17. Aside from the blizzard of 78, it was the most amazing storm I've experienced. 34 Inches in Simsbury. I still had my residential snow plow route at the time. Took me all weekend, and hours after work Monday to clean everyone up
