I’m probably going to be missed by a very slow moving storm, it’ll probably slip north by 2 miles or so. I think I can already hear the thunder from it... Edit: it heard me post that, it’s now disintegrating.

Us being humans, we definitely would automatically assume the closest is the most in danger. It isn’t until you study a bit, and think about it, that you realize that we don’t have the slightest clue where that thing is going until at least 3 days before.

That thing could scrape out a swath from the corner of florida near Tallahassee all the way to SW Virginia. I would assume the eye would be probably twice as large at least. Fun to look at though and imagine “what if”... no it isn’t because I just did.

How many days until the GFS poops out that classic 18” snowstorm it always does in the fall?

If we get any tropical storm effects in the coming weeks after all the rain, central Virginia isn’t going to have fun. A squirrel sneeze, (or seal? One might have been seen in the James River the other day...) will be enough to send any tree onto its side.

That line of storms connected and now there is no gap. Looks to be pretty strong, but quick. I’ll take it, whenever it gets here.

There’s two strong storms northwest and southwest of me that I’ll probably go right between unless something fires up in the middle of them before they get here.

In your opinion, which year had the weirdest tropical storm tracks? My pick has to be 2004, because so many of them took weird turns and did loops and weird things like that.

Woke up to loud rain... not sure if wind was involved, but it was a quick 10 minutes of downpour.

It’s terrible around the richmond area and everything surrounding it... They don’t need anymore rain.

If I remember correctly, lightning creates Ozone? So they are good for something?

Is the NAO something you can definitively see on the model runs, or is it a kind of “looks close enough to a -NAO?” Sure, it may look negative on the model, and never appear in the real world...

Nothing much this afternoon other than a miss, and some distant thunder. Not sure what happened before sunrise, but it rained i guess.

Maybe it’s because August 10th feels like the middle of summer, and summer feels like hurricanes, while September is when school starts again, its maybe cooler (good luck with that) and it doesn’t feel like summer therefor, it feels less like peak season...

This storm has entirely missed me by half a mile... give or take. Second time today. Tomorrow will be fun... i hope.

Another storm, probably about a mile away. Not moving much, but getting bigger. Been hearing thunder for hours at this point. It’s so mean!

No rain, but a storm came probably less than a mile to the south, i could see an entire lightning flash, loud thunder, but no rain. Maybe a few drops at most.
