No precip near Tuckahoe at the moment. It was mostly sleet, and pretty underwhelming(Luckily!). Not a ton of sleet, but enough to cover the roads, and a small glaze of freezing rain on trees.
You all can party while I sit in the dark without power, and .5” of ice outside.
I’m concerned for this one down here. Too soon to a few days ago for it to happen again.
No, which is why I somewhat rescind that comment, I cannot see any soundings so I’m not sure what the precip would be. I don’t think RGEM has Ice maps either, but I’ll check other places...
Currently 39° with the WSWatch.
You all are lucky... you get to see snow, and I have to wait down here in Richmond for probably 1”... I’ll still take it, but wish I didn’t have to wait.
Would precipitation here be freezing rain? How shallow should the freezing air near the surface be in order to make sleet / freezing rain?
I understand for sleet the freezing air should be deeper near the surface, I just don’t know generally how much.
Is ice seeming like the more prominent thing with this next one than snow? I kind of get that feeling, but can’t really tell. 12z Euro was on the snowy side.
