  1. I took down umbrellas, even way up here in Tampa Bay. Put a few yard decorations in safer places. Right now, nice and calm, slight PTC1 breeze. Will be asleep when something could blow through. No concerns, but always better safe than sorry.
  2. Well, still the first of the year. In my backyard, a few sprinkles. But the steady breeze is from this first PTC of 2022. The breeze is strong enough we can hear it inside our home. Outside it is fairly warm, and steady. It is not a "sea breeze" like we have almost every day in July, it is not an out-flow boundary from a big thunderstorm coming across Central Florida, it is definitely the outer swirls of some kind of Tropical system. It is good to feel, and also good to know it is nothing to fret. We could use a little more rain up here, but this week was a break from the dry season with 3 or 4 inches of rain as the sun set a few nights. Hope it gets a name, but if not I'll remember it for a little while as the "first" this season.
  3. So far we in Tampa Bay are north. Could be some thunderstorms pop up, we even had a tiny tornado last night. You will probably be fine. Still pay attention...
  4. Here in Gulfport FL (Tampa Bay), we could always use a real soaker in June. It has rained the past two nights, everything got a needed drink. But it is the early Tropical systems that make us a real tropical paradise!
  5. Hermine was one of the three most impressive storms here in Tampa Bay over the past ten years or so. Barely scraped us, but trees and power went down. I still remember it like yesterday. What a mess!
  6. I've been watching it. Thought I saw a LITTLE SPIN...
  7. Entertainment back on here in Tampa Bay. Little rain here today, but we need a soaking rain.
  8. Even if totally wrong, I'm a fan as having something to see a couple or so times a day for a couple weeks. My first 2022 season excitement! I am voting for GFS, but not betting money on it. Still worth coming to see every day what it's model predicts. Later on may judge by what happens now, but for today, I love the Spring energy!
  9. My wife puts on the Weather Channel for her daily afternoon nap while she is comfy in her recliner chair. I'm on my PC in my office in the next room, but in the background did I hear them talking about Tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico (based on GFS)?
  10. But then what might be OK for the Florida peninsula would not be as welcome in LA.
  11. GFS still spinning a storm in the Gulf. Granted, it has been all over the place, but hanging on. It is approaching late May, we do get storms this early. I'm not worried about a Laura, Michael, etc. But a TS would be nice.
  12. I see a couple other models are now starting to pick up a hint of a low forming around the Yucatan.
  13. This is what we need this time of year! Makes all the difference.
  14. GFS shifted south, between Cuba and Florida. Certainly it will be all over the place for the next week. A good typical late May Tropical Storm around here would not be totally unwelcome. Although always inconvenient for some in low areas or with weak trees. I'd love to host the first Storm of the season. No Hurricanes invited...
  15. Has my attention. At least something to look at every day. We need rain in the Tampa Bay area, so hoping maybe a mild Tropical Storm to kick off the season.
  16. Anticipation high. Yet every year it is high, part of the passion I guess....
  17. Clearwater Beach sunset January 4, 2022. Can't complain about the weather these past weeks.
  18. Clearwater Beach sunset on December 15, 2021.
  19. There were a few named storms this year that in the past would not even come close. I wonder how the history would pan out if today's technology were in play 20 or 30 years ago.
  20. One year ago today Tropical Storm Eta passed by off the coast of Tampa Bay. It was actually the local highlight of the year for us. We had over 7 inches of rain in our yard and a few hurricane strength gusts in the middle of the night. A lucky year for us last year, and this year was another lucky year.
  21. My bet was a dead August and a fired up October/November. It appears my weather tarot was misread... The cards don't lie, but interpretation is subject to human error. "Human Error" is my middle name sometimes! Ready for that very rare snowfall in Tampa Bay. My camera is ready. But mets are predicting a long dry winter down here. If so, hope it stays warm. Cold and dry is no fun.
