  1. Considering we just received 3" of rain, my yard isn't soggy at all. It was a good soaker too. Today was decent although felt a little chilly when the clouds rolled in. Good for getting yardwork done. Anyone else notice tons of gnats already? Almost impossible to get work done without a hat or head covering. A lot of birds in yard, so maybe something else eats gnats?
  2. Cool and rainy, just like our winter!
  3. Hard pass on highs in the 50s in May. And yea, what is the Northern SERC?
  4. LOL, if only that worked in winter as well. I edited the post to change the link to the whole archive. Its kind of fun reading through it from start to "omg too much rain".
  5. @mattie g might care more if they put pool filling restrictions up and cramp his swim schedules!
  6. I thought I remembered some sort of water restrictions a long time ago, and found this archive from the WaPo circa 1999: Washingtonpost.com: Drought Special Report I was 19 at the time so didn't really care about water :). Thought the article had some good insight into what happens when we get dry. One thing people around here really don't think about are wells. Even here in howard county the entire western part of the county is not served by public water. Might be 20-25% of the county population.
  7. Is the GFS on crack for the extended range? Or are we in store for a cold pattern ahead?
  8. spread 8 yards of mulch today, getting a little toasty. Feels like its gonna be a hot summer.
  9. gonna be rioting if this wjz weather guy doesnt get off the split screen.
  10. rumbles and some rain in Ellicott city. So far looks like we dodged the worst.
  11. I installed a robot mower last year, and it was great! Still had to touch up the edging every so often. Sure didn't miss the sweaty summer mows! I just took it out of storage, grass is starting to show signs of life. Unrelated: Has anyone else seen an uptick in the weeds this year? I don't put much stuff down but do spot spray. The chickweed is going crazy!
  12. Good temps outside for yard work, but cold for anything else. Breeze has a bite to it.
  13. Everyone is on edge after so many below average snowfall winters
  14. I've been WFH for 6 years and don't miss the commute one bit. Feel like covid made people even worse on the roads.
  15. rumbles and pouring rain here in EC.
  16. my chickweed is thriving. dont think it ever died off over the "winter".
  17. Sad thing is the only thing that would have prevented this is that truck with the big yellow bumper on the rear, which appears to be parked inside the previous work zone area. They need to make sure those trucks are deployed at the entrance areas were workers are at. Had that truck been 500ft further forward, those workers might still be with us :(.
  18. I hear ya. Sorry I was over the top. I hope the box truck driver got his punishment. If I am ever first in line at a light I always look before going on green. Too many red light runners.
  19. and thats the frustrating part of these "accidents". I no longer ride my bike on the street due to all the distracted, drunk, high, and malicious motor vehicle drivers out there. I am disappointed to give up something I loved to do, but I also love my family and being alive.
  20. What bias is that? Bias against bad drivers?
  21. "clipped a car" I see tons of terrible lane changes every day. People in a big hurry and weaving through traffic. She needs to be charged but I won't hold my breath. For some reason driving like an idiot is a badge of honor in this country. Its not just bad driving. Drunk drivers get a slaps on the wrist until they kill someone, and even then they might not make it to jail. Remember this one? Ex-Bishop who struck and killed cyclist released from prison (wmar2news.com) She served a couple years for MURDER! You go shoot and kill someone and see how many years you get. Sorry, terrible driving and the lack of responsibility and repercussions is a sore subject for me.
  22. Probably got his application rejected and had to settle for GM. I'd say the people that have legit beef with UMD would be UVA/Duke. I didn't go to UMD but grew up in MD. Loved the classic ACC rivalry games. Pretty much gave up on the Terps when they moved to Big10.
  23. Is the pipe inside or outside? sometimes the pipe will clog or crack. if part of the pipe is inside and leaking the fan is basically pumping radon into your house. Ace in oakland or that building supply place in accident might have fans. but if your meter is showing a vacuum and you hear it whiring its probably not the fan. you could try turning it off and seeing if levels go down. I dont mind taking a looksee if you are still around tomorrow.
  24. I don't. I do have a handheld measuring device if you want to borrow it. My cabin is so leaky I've never measured anything significant. Our neighbors have a fan though. What needs replacing? If its just the fan, it can be ordered online and maybe find a handyman to install it. If its easy to get to lemme know I can take a look. I plan on coming up sun-tues to get some skiing in between meetings :).
