  1. Wow what a front! 61.3 high just an hour ago now down to 42.2. Heavy storm knocked my power out too for about an hour. 0.35” in the bucket and raining hard.
  2. The fat lady has walked onto the stage and the mic is hot
  3. C but I was tempted to say A because that just sounds so amazing. But two years down the road without snow and I’d be in a bad place can’t imagine 3-5
  4. At least we’ve been tracking constantly this winter but man with what just happened to Texas and the Deep South and you get completely blanked with that cold air on our doorstep hurts more than it should
  5. The only issue is your “natural” style lawn is clearly doing much better than mine https://postimg.cc/9DFsk20M
  6. I’ve tried fescue and found it either isn’t shade tolerant enough or needs water daily but it failed bad when I planted it last spring
  7. Doubt we’ll even have anything worthy of starting a thread by the end of the weekend. I like everything about that GFS run other than the fact it’s nearly a week out....
  8. When I read this I immediately thought someone had started a thread, lol
  9. Any suggestions for spring re-planting or a yard? My entire yard is destroyed from this winter and last year’s rain. Never started over from scratch. Any ideas on seed to use (low maintenance) and timing when to plant?
  10. Last year it snowed ALL afternoon and frequently moderate during the storm at the end of February and only a couple inches stuck and it was to the grass. Greenville and places East had it fall during the night and ended up with 5-6 inches. Yes, it can snow and yes, it can accumulate late into February/early March but it has to snow HARD during daylight to stick and don’t expect it to last through noon the next day. A light to moderate snow will not amount to much during daylight this time of year, coming from experience
  11. Is this not the exact same time it snowed last year with almost the exact same look...
  12. Looks strangely like it snowed on my cameras in Franklin county last night Any ground truth to this? Looks to have been brief but shocking if true given the warm nose
  13. The GFS called it 10 days ago! It was just 800 miles off
  14. Radar filling in from Columbia to the upstate. Some areas may see additional icing but impactful ice probably relegated to border counties and beyond. Probably Roxboro East
  15. High 35.2 Low 31.4 1.05” Glaze of ice this morning definitely more in trees than near ground. Less than 0.10” but definitely measurable if you had a 20 ft ladder, lol
  16. That picture doesn’t even look like it belongs on this board... I’m used to measuring sticks stuck on car hoods claiming over an inch and pics of yards with grass popping out and decks where you can see wood through the snow and people declaring it’s “puking” or “pouring snow”
  17. If anyone is still below freezing north of the triangle precip is building to our southwest again
  18. Every winter day, I question why I still keep up with this hobby It has been 804 days since we have had a snowfall where I could shovel snow from my driveway
  19. Well, models were ALL trending towards significant icing, RAH and Blacksburg were sounding the alarm, multiple model suites were putting out ludicrous ice totals, and the major globals were all in agreement of a major CAD area ice storm.... INSIDE 48 hours. Literally how do you forecast weather this year when everything trends towards agreement essentially to game time, then drops it 12 hours before the event. Models all warmed starting at 12z yesterday but warning were already out. I mean how do you work with that? Hot 850’s, anomalously hot, did this in, imo, as did a precip hole over the main cad region
  20. I knew it was a serious risk yet I did it anyway... sigh. At least I busted up an ice storm and not a snow event
  21. Someone on the MA board said it perfectly: it only snows when it’s above freezing now
