  1. My allergies are kicking in, too. Pretty sure it's maple pollen that causes me issues, as those are the first to start dumping pollen, and my allergies usually ease up once they leaf out.
  2. I get my second Pfizer shot this morning, and the wife is looking likely to be getting her first early next week. With quite a few of our friends already having gotten the first or second shots, you can just feel the weight lifting from among our group! Edit: Despite this, we'll still mask up just as we have been and refrain from going out to eat, going into large groups, etc. even if local governments lift restrictions. We feel it's the right thing to do, both for us and for everyone else to get to the finish line.
  3. This is a great way to go about it. It takes a *lot* of internal coordination, but if you have the right people running the show with support from up top, then you can certainly make it work.
  4. There's also kudzu, which does much the same thing in creating huge canopies.
  5. They're actually coming along really nicely. Nearly every pepper and tomato seed germinated, so I had to snip some seedlings yesterday to give the others room to grow. The only issue I'm running into now is that I'm getting some purpling of the leaves, so after some research it seems I may need to add magnesium and/or phosphorus to help them out. I'll probably need to pot up pretty soon, too, but I'd like to get them a little bigger and stronger before doing that - maybe shoot to do it next weekend. I need to get my lettuce, spinach, and basil seeds going soon, with cucumbers and cantaloupe in the next week or two. Lots happening! How's things on your end?
  6. That's awesome! We had a Meyer lemon for a few years, but despite thriving most of the time - producing a tree full of flowers and starting to produce multiple lemons, it really suffered indoors due to a really bad infestation of citrus scale that I couldn't get rid of. It was really disappointing to have to ultimately dispose of the tree.
  7. To each their own and all, but come on...
  8. I've definitely had times when local restaurants added Old Bay to their fries - almost all from quite a few years ago when I lived in the District. I've *never* been happy about it!
  9. Old Bay is good for crabs and that's about it. Nasty on most anything else.
  10. Rain got a little colder in the last hour. 35 now.
  11. We snowin’ yet? Where the storm thread?
  12. I can’t do Rauchbier...or Saisons. Nasty. I’ve got a 2020 BCBS this evening. Classic.
  13. Here's my take: It's not that the post upsets someone. It's that a post has a not-so-subtle political take that will take things down a path that the admins have long indicated they don't want things to go down. Might the post upset someone, as well? Yes, but that's not why these posts get nuked - it's because they *are* political. To me, it's really that simple.
  14. Considering you were about 3 years old, it makes sense.
  15. Check that...all nine jalapeno seeds have sprouted. And after checking this morning, two different types of tomato (Jersey Devil and Orange Paruche Cherry) have started to sprout!
  16. I just got lumped in with the lowlands near DCA.
  17. 06z GFS wants me to bring Lowcountry weather back from HHI at the end of the run. I wouldn't be mad about it.
  18. I can only imagine. Definitely saw lots of complaints from the holier-than-thou and COVID-doesn't-matter crowds, but overall I think folks understood that it was tough to find a good balance last summer. Agreed that this summer's swim team will likely be a little different, but hopefully it won't be too disrupted. We've got young kids, so we haven't been ground to the bone by summer swim just yet! Exactly what our pool did - Sign-Up Genius - and it worked pretty well overall. Totally agree on the fun, camaraderie, and burning of energy! As I mentioned to H2O, our kids are still young so we absolutely "need" that outlet for them during the summer months since they're not ready to go out and "find their own fun" all day long. I only started as a timer last year, but I definitely want to be more involved. I grew up playing all manner of sports and did so through and well after college, so I have that itch for being involved in competition, and for now summer swim is the one way to do that!
  19. But it's a long-range thread, not a winter-tracking thread. If the long range shows warmth, then I think it's perfectly fine for people to post about it.
  20. That's awesome. We'll do the last one, for sure. Last summer we still went to the pool, but it was limited to 2-hour blocks with limits on the number of people allowed at the pool (though I don't think they ever hit the limit) and you had to sign up by 7:00 am on the morning you wanted to go. No indication that COVID was transmitted this way, but we're lucky in that our neighborhood is filled with folks who can remote work, wear masks all the time, etc. We're also excited to have our girls do swim team again, which I assume will be a go this summer. Even last year they did a "Camp Quarantine" to keep the swim team going, but it wasn't the same without meets and the like. Even if I have to wear a mask to be a meet timer or to flip burgers, I'm excited to have that back in our lives!
  21. Enough playing the victim. Geez...
