  1. Wow, man…that’s incredibly impressive!
  2. Today isn’t so bad, but 8:00am swim practice is going to be chiiiillee the next couple days!
  3. The split filled in. Pretty amazing call by the mesos that showed the southern edge of the storms poking down just far enough to get Burke in on the action.
  4. Good to hear the Sluggo seems to have had an effect. I was seeing slug damage on my lettuce, basil, one jalapeño plant so I applied some Sluggo and haven’t noticed new damage since. I had to delay putting my cantaloupes in the ground, so that didn’t help. I was hoping to build a new raised bed this spring, but I didn’t get around to it, so I had to plant them in the old cucumber location that no longer get the sun it used to (neighbors’s tree has grown out to shade that spot more now). We’ll see what happens. If I get some fruit, then great, if not…there’s always next year!
  5. That cuke looks good…much better than my cantaloupes, for sure!
  6. Looks like the NAM Burke jack will end up verifying out in the northern Loudoun area. Not unhappy about that.
  7. If a model is run enough times, it's bound to be right sometime.
  8. 12z has the same jack area, but cut the totals by a couple inches.
  9. We had a deluge for an hour or so (with light rain after) as cells popped overhead at 5:00-ish. Swim practice was cancelled. Within 15 minutes of the rain starting, our back window well filled up and water started coming in through the basement window. Had to go outside to clear the gutters, then bail the water out of the window well. Good thing is that side of the basement has a drain in the floor and is our storage/HVAC/water heater area and not the finished section. We were able to wipe it all up and get it dried out pretty quickly. 2.29" from yesterday at the nearest reporting PWS (just ESE of Fairfax City), but I suspect we had a bit more as we were closer to the main cell than that PWS. Been raining pretty good so far this morning and it looks like plenty more on the way.
  10. Boundaries headed WSW over the Potomac now. Maybe something will fire somewhere on them.
  11. Plenty of stuff for the east of 270 crew. Watching from afar as winds begin to blow away the dust from my crops in Fairfax County. Daughter has swim practice at 5:30, so I wouldn't mind things holding off around here until then.
  12. No luck on rain this week so far expect for a few large raindrops IMBY. DrOUgHT!!1!1
  13. Can cause an overdose of nitrogen, though.
  14. We had the "5 o'clock alarm" in my near-Philly, South Jersey neighborhood when I was growing up in the '80s. The thing would go off almost every day. We always figured it was to help parents get their kids inside for dinner, but when I think about it as an adult and being mindful of the Cold War tensions of the time, it could well have been an air raid siren.
  15. Agreed. There are a few trees in the neighborhood that are ear-piercingly loud as you walk under them. Seems they've focused on cherry trees, in particular.
  16. I peaked at 73dB a few days ago. I'm generally at 65 dB or so now. Just not much happening in the trees immediately around my house, but walk a block or two away and it gets damn loud.
  17. Same here. It's not like I'm *that* old and grew up in a time when everyone fanned themselves and drank lemonade on the porch in the summer, but I did grow up more "working class" so AC was fancy for us! You're lucky. My parents eventually got a window unit, so they closed their door at night and let the four of us sweat it out.
  18. Would take me back to my childhood with no AC, except I’d be FAR more miserable now than I was back then!
  19. Don’t worry. We *might* be OK.
  20. It might be 88 and sunny for a few days next week, so the drought will just come back with a vengeance.
  21. DCA: 98 RIC: 101 IAD: 100 BWI: 98 Edit because MN Transplant showed us up below and I don't want to be difficult: 98 _ 101 _ 100 _ 98
