  1. Horizontal shaking back and forth at least most of it. Initially it was a bit like a rattle then shaking. Almost as if you were standing on a book that was being moved back and forth on a table.
  2. Well plus lots of people felt it around the area per some VA folks and some MD folks.
  3. The 4.2 one? - And I'm not viewing on that I'm viewing on "View all Earthquakes on this Map"
  4. The aftershock fell off the map and list of earthquakes at least for me weird.
  5. Don't worry - these are all building up energy for the big eruption - see my post from earlier.
  6. We can use you to predict quakes!
  7. It's funny - I was talking to a friend and we were wondering how many people were on the crapper when it hit.
  8. So your map in the snowmageddon book is actually yet to come?!?!
  9. Indications are that the Yellowstone Volcano has relocated underneath the DC area. Katie's mspaint entry is going to come true if that is the case.
  10. Volcano set to erupt directly under Ian's place.
  11. It was quite weak. I thought it was a chopper passing nearby overhead but with todays events I checked USGS.
  12. 7.8km depth - getting bigger again lol
  13. Daniel Johnson reporting on Facebook he felt it too
  14. Did we just have a barely detectable aftershock?
  15. Every seismic event is possibly a foreshock. Did you read the part where she said it was a very low probability?
  16. Oh good lord. People who don't know what they are talking about should not be allowed to be broadcast scientists. Who was it? Somebody from WJLA I presume? Doesn't WTOP use WJLA mets?
  17. That's nothing - I saw it on the Euro 168 hours out
  18. I don't know if "lucky" is the right word. Seems about right damage wise for a 5.8 on this side of the country where there aren't earthquake building codes etc. It just simply wasn't a super strong quake - just a strong one for this part of the country. Still unnerving yes but pretty cool as well.
  19. To be fair - a 5.8 is rare here. Very rare.
  20. There have been two aftershocks of 2.8 and 2.2 respectively. I would think that might be what it amounts to. Don't think we'll be seeing anything close to the initial like we see after large earthquakes in CA or other major parts of the world. You do have to wonder though if this built pressure up anywhere else.
  21. You say that now but we'll see what you say when the main earthquake hits and it's 99.5 magnitude.
  22. Oh don't make me worry more! lol well it was already way out of collimation.
