I just shoveled the most horrific glacier of my life. I measured 4.7 inches of snow last night when the sleet started. I dont know how much sleet we got. Maybe an inch and half? All of that was then encased in freezing rain. I can literally walk on top of this glacier. Crazy storm.

Still sleeting here in Winchester. Incredible. Regardless of this being a snowstorm bust. It is nowhere close to a weather experience bust. Mid teens beatdown all afternoon long. The temp gradient is unique. The track is unique. Just a very unique weather event for all of us.

I just took an hour long Jebwalk in pelting sleet. It was amazing. Neighborhood kids out going crazy. My wife worried I was going to freeze to death and die. Incredible experience. I will never bitch about sleet again. My 4+ snowpack took a beating. But it is going to freeze into a 3 inch thick sheet of ice over the next couple of days. Oh and check this out. This thing is ridiculous. Straight up monster cyclone over land:

I wiped my snowboard so I can get an accurate measurement of the sleet. I hope that is what you are supposed to do. Oh. And other question is do you count sleet as your total accumulation?

Switched over to a mix of quarter size snow bombs and sleet here. Took a measurement before my snow got beat to death. I have 4.8 inches of snow. Gonna get really nasty out here the rest of the night. Sleet/snow mix 18 degrees.

7:00 Update: 4.1 inches. Picked up 1.3 inches in the past hour. Heavy snow 16 degrees. Edit: Oh. And I am going to bust low big time.

Pretty cool animation here. You can really see how the Blue Ridge stops the sleet on the eastern side of the mountain.

6:00 Update. 2.8 inches. Picked up 1 inch in the past hour. Moderate snow. 16 degrees.

Watch how it is getting stopped by the Blue Ridge. We will hold on for a couple more hours at least I think.

I know. My wife pisses me off about that. I put everything up the weekend before Thanksgiving. She takes everything down the weekend after New Years. I would leave my Christmas stuff up year long if she would allow it.

5:00 Update: 1.8 inches. Snow 16 degrees. Picked up 1.1 in the past hour. Coming down nicely now.

Nice. I have just had steady snow for 2 hours now. But not really piling up yet. It is only a matter of time.

We are still holding on to our northerly surface winds. I dont see the surface getting above freezing out here now. Gonna be really ugly once we flip out here.
