  1. Hiking at Cunningham Falls Park in the Catoctin Mountains yesterday. Hiked in under sunlight and out under moonlight. So amazing up there.
  2. My brother’s friend clearing his driveway at Alta this morning. Puts my sad sleet pile to shame!
  3. A deluge of sleet now in Gaithersburg. Pretty cool, and it'll be nice to have the entire ground covered in ice! Unfortunately I have a 2 hour work meeting scheduled at 10am...ugh.
  4. It’s filling in and getting heavier. You have to remember that the image on the radar isn’t static.
  5. The precip is already evident on the radar and it will be frozen in some form for basically the entire area. No need to talk about rug pulls; it’s gonna precipitate.
  6. Nice clean format, and I really hope the 3-6" stretches down to include the 2-4" areas...those guys deserve it. If I'm being picky I'd move the title over to the top left portion of MD/WV where no one lives or cares about (I kid I kid). But for real.
  7. You should probably stop saying “we” and “us” when referring to literally yourself only.
  8. GFS looks good to me. Nice thump of snow, followed by ice. Overall a high impact winter event so can’t complain.
  9. Just gotta ignore the storm for a bit and play hard to get. Make the storm crawl back in and beg for our attention. Doesn’t hurt to try at least
  10. Just drove from Gaithersburg to Bethesda and back. The interstate overpasses were sketchy, with one 5 car crash on an overpass over 270. Another 2 car slide off on 495. Seemed to be quite a bit of ice already sagging branches in Bethesda. Glad to be off the road now.
  11. I certainly don't wish destruction on anyone, but I'm down for a bit of ice. I lived in North Louisiana as a kid during 2 back to back ice storms in 1999 - 2000 and remember hearing pine trees snap all night. We lived in the woods north of Ruston, LA and it sounded like gun shots every time another tree would snap. Huge transformer flashes all night until all of Ruston was without power. The lights stayed out for an entire week in December 1999. It might sound awful, but some of our best memories are from that time all hanging out as a family - cooking meals over the fire place.
  12. That’s great! The rain/snow line must have predominantly held between G-burg/Germantown on the 270 corridor
  13. Light snow (but fat flakes) in Gaithersburg now. Surprised to see it after the sleet fest
  14. Nice white coating of sleet on the ground in Gaithersburg. We stayed sleet the entire time except for that 5pm burst of snow. Winter is interesting here...you never know what precip type you’ll end up with.
  15. Just went for a run in Gaithersburg. Lots of sleet, with only a few flakes mixed in. Even the main roads have some accumulation on them.
  16. Once precip starts, I generally avoid models because I don't need that negativity in my life. On jeb walks I never look at the radar either, for that same reason. Sleet/Snow mix in Gaithersburg.
  17. I'm guessing the branches are coated in water, not ice...but who am I to judge I guess
  18. My heart tells me we get crushed with snow next Tuesday. My head tells me Tyler, TX to Alexandria, LA gets crushed with snow on Monday and we find a way to 33 and rain.
  19. Unfortunately you're in that "in between suck zone" where it might be too warm for wave 1 and wave 2 looks iffy. Honestly though I wouldn't give up on wave 2...you might score some snow down there.
  20. After an annoying day at work and an even more annoying atmosphere over in the storm thread, that cat zoom vid had me laughing . Thanks for that @North Balti Zen!
