I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not seeing much snow potential until the following weekend storm period...about Jan. 9 forward.

18Z GFS Absolute Disaster and 18Z EURO AI is snowless too. 10 pages of hype will hopefully still deliver but it is not snowing this week. Let's see what the models show next weekend before getting too excited about January. We've been down this road too many times before...

I see why no one is talking about the 12Z GFS but it does have a big dog in the 2nd weekend of Jan...so now we wait for the triumphant victory or the agony of defeat.

Happy for our NY friends: from NY NWS: If the forecast verifies, Central Park will receive its first snowfall of greater than 4 inches since January 2022. In the January 28-29, 2022 storm 8.3 inches was observed.

NAMs are a nothing burger for us and most currently in the WSW area. (WB 0Z 3K NAM).

Look at the WB 0Z HRRR radar at hour 48. Not much snow in the northern zone... wondering if the heavy precipitation is trending more toward us, ripping off the northern MA of a snowstorm and bringing an ice storm to us..

Gov' t employees work their ass off with limited resources and barebones staffing. As a recently retired federal employee myself, if you want better models write your Congressional Members and tell them that NOAA needs more resources to develop better models. Don't disparage feds in this forum or you should be banned.

WB extended EPS 30 day anomalies for Jan.

EPS daily extended ticked colder this run with normal temps into second week of January and with below normal end of January into early February. Control is much colder. Definitely not a "winter is over" run.
