December 2021 Obs/Disco...Dreaming of a White-Weenie Xmas
Snowcrazed71 replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in New England
Yeah... Quite a spin. The one thing I'll say to you, I too love the winter, love the snow. But I'm also realistic. I've been on this Earth for 50 years, when it comes to the winter weather it makes me feel like a kid. My family in the house here laugh and how much I enjoy it am I as they all love the summer and warmth. The only thing that bothers me it's when someone taunts other people on purpose oh, kind of poking them with the hot poker just to get a reaction. That I don't find cool. I'm sure you mean well. And I'm sure that you'll get what you want out of winter and we'll get what we want out of winter. Only time will tell -

lolol Torch Tiger, you just love getting reactions from people. The sad thing is, some people on here have a hard time with staying positive and all you're doing is feeding into that dagger in the back idea. I could care less what you have to say. It really doesn't bother me one way or the other when it comes to your childish comments, but you're not doing anyone any favors either. There's always going to be a few of you out there. But I did want to comment on however was the fact that you're saying Winters quickly passing Us by. That has me rolling on the floor laughing. As smart as I thought you were, I guess you're not that smart after all. For one, meteorological winter starts December 1st, and for two, the actual winter starts December 21st. Climate to logically I'm especially Southern New England to the Mid-Atlantic, we really don't see when you're kicking into gear until January February. So troll all you want, I'll just look at it as some Weather comedy. -

I was also just going to comment. What a cynical group we have here. We are only at November 30th people. November 30th!! In the last 36 hours we've had people on the ceiling and people on the floor following every single model run like that's the say all end all of what's going to happen. I love coming on here to discuss the weather and talk about the possibilities. The one thing I don't like is the negativity and the people giving up on something that hasn't even started yet LOL. I'm not going anywhere, but it's comical to see these people, and quite a good amount, cliff jumping, just to climb back up that rock face to the top oh, and jump again if need be. It almost feels like I'm on here with a bunch of ten-year-olds. And I know for a fact that most of you are well over 10 LOL. You should almost be embarrassed that you're acting like children. Instead, let's have fun and discuss weather and the possibilities of what could happen whether it's rain or snow. -

Umm.. Today is Tuesday, right? Why do we have the same reactions to the model runs when it's this far out?? I don't get it? Lolol. Let the freak outs begin. Ha! -

Leave it to this winner to post in the Winter thread dor Warm weather. Lol In all seriousness, how in the world can we even say what will happen? The models keep waffling back and forth. I dor one am not banking on one outcome over another. Time will tell. -
Stafford Springs officially received 3"

Although I appreciate your enthusiasm, you do realize that there is zero model support for your snowfall prediction. I don't mean to be harah, but, there us wishful thinking, and there is being realistic. No one will fault you for being overly optomistic, but, its time to face the reality. This storm may bring the area 2"-4" or 3"-6" at best
-
Yeah, but isn't the NAO heading towards postive?
-
You can also end up a river West thing, could also end up Northern New England, could also end up Eastern New England. The point is it is only Wednesday. How many years have we been coming on this forum.. and how many times do the models change when it's 5 days out. I've learned a long time ago to be optimistic, but cautious when it's 5 days out. Sometimes it works out in our favor and sometimes it doesn't. Put your lips on that lol
-
Now you know that can change in a blink of an eye.

One of the things I I'm truly looking forward to is when we do have something to track as far as a potential storm goes. I love the way everyone comes together, there's an excitement level that we're all feeling. All the worries and frustrations of past disappointments disappear. We all know it's going to happen, and I'm looking forward to it. I have a good feeling they'll be many opportunities to feel this way

Log splitters

A while different comparison. Trees.. I would love the amount of snow they get, but they are the mountains... Different environment. I still love New England, especially the dynamics that we see here when it comes to the weather.
-
Let the Mayhem begin. Already have Cliff jumpers and the season hasn't even started. That's okay, less people freaking out during the actual winter months. LOL
-
I am perfectly ok with us not getting heavy Snow at this point. Winter ( Meteorological that is ) doesn't officially start until December. And.. There is some truth to having a lack luster Winter of we get Snow to early here in Southern New England. I am patiently waiting and positively optimistic for a good Winter for us here. Time will tell. Trying not to exaust myself to early with worrying about a storm ( Snow ) for early next week.
-
Just happened to wake up around 1:30 and saw my first flakes. A nice light snow shower.
-
I'm exactly the same way. Today was my third time doing the leaves. I'd rather keep up with it weekly then try to do it all in one Fell Swoop. There's no way that would work for me. Plus, I love the satisfying feeling of everything looking clean and kept once I'm done

You're one strange dude. Lol
-
Yeah, I would take this with a slice of salt LOL. I really don't trust either model Euro or GFS. In our state and Connecticut 1 meteorologist from a certain Network loves the Euro, where another meteorologist from a different network loves the GFS. It all comes down to as we get closer to the storm and as the models converge. It happens every year and probably what makes each other crazy. That's what makes it fun LOL
-
It is quite mind boggling. Can drive a sane person insane I tell ya! Lol I will say this, the Euro tends to always have a warm bias, especially long range, so I always take their modeled temp forecasts for the upcoming months with a grain of salt. Thanks for your insight ( and as always ) your rather extensive vocabulary ( that I will admit I have to look up sometimes ). Just saying. ;-)

Umm... November has always had flip flip seasons. Yes..we would see cold and raw conditions, but we've also seen mild conditions as well. Plus.. The wintry part of the month usually wouldn't be felt until after mid month as far as having more sustained cold. At least there is a change coming after Friday/Saturday, which both Gil Simmons & Bob Maxon ( 2 reputable Mets from 2 different stations here in Ct ) both alluded to, including the possibility of an upper level low system that may being rain & snow showers here Sunday/Monday. We shall see. Enjoy the warmer weather while you can my friends.

What do you mean?
-
Oh, that ended with the last several nights of 25 to 28 degrees here in Central and Northern Connecticut LOL. Having some 60s for the first half of this week is not going to make things grow again.
