Some really great pattern changes have occurred. It was warm until January 16th 1985 at GSO. Then -8F on the 21st. Google it. Strap in folks.

Be glad there is a great ridge forming in the West. Be glad we will no longer have a sw flow aloft. A changing pattern indeed. We simply need the ingredients. First cold air, check.

Looks like 3-4 feet of snow on Donner's Summit. Live streaming cam on I-80. Only 1-2 feet at Teton Pass, cams there as well. Winds could gust to 100mph on the Summit. Good show next 72 hours. I have talked to the weather Gods. The curse may be lifted for the mid Atlantic, in 96 hrs. Scud...

The longest I have seen, and I am really old, is January 16th 1985. It turned cold and snowy. Was living in High Point NC at the time. Arctic outbreak gave us all time record low of -8F on or about the 21st. Just saying.
