  1. Another issue is the winds stay up in the city at night while they go dead in rural areas, adding to the UHI woes.
  2. Yea but looking at WBGT, doesn't that actually make numbers hotter compared to HI?
  3. It's really hard to average that high over a month because all it takes is a few days below average and a bunch of days near average and then even if 20 out of 30 days were a decent amount above normal at night your average gets dragged down. The latest average low in July at LGA is 72. For example if you have 5 lows at -2 departure , 5 days at 0 departure, 10 days at +3 departure and 10 days at +5 departure, even though most lows were very warm the whole month's lows comes out to +2.3 degrees. Central Park's average July low is 70 so for them it's significantly harder to have any monthly average low of 76. LGA is currently 73.2 degrees for the average monthly low despite the heat.
  4. The urban jungle used to average lows in the upper 60s in July. Up until the 1981-2010 averages it did. Even in rural areas, if your dewpoints are high you're not cooling off either. Everyone's warming up at night. The farmland went from 65 to 68 and the city went from 68 to 71, or something like that. So yea rural still averages in the 60s but not as low into the 60s.
  5. Low of 80 at LGA, JFK and Newark this morning. 79 at the natural cooling center.
  6. Down into the upper 80s now, thank god we won't be baking at 90 degrees at 1AM
  7. 2010 had the September tornado that literally passed over my house and the microburst which together wiped out a massive amount of huge, old trees in my area. The canopy has never been the same, it makes me angry to this day.
  8. I'm wondering if LGA hit 101 when the max temps are reported at 8PM.
  9. I guess some type of sea breeze has overtaken the area because I'm down to 92 degrees.
  10. 97 degrees at NYC's largest natural cooling center
  11. Other models show upper 60s, which would be a miracle itself, I'll take that too.
  12. I'm currently at 101/69 Hopefully it will be 55 degrees Friday afternoon like the NAM says hahaha
  13. I noticed temps haven't really dropped much unless you're right on the water. I'm at 99/69
  14. The 12z NAM for Friday between 2 and 5PM is just funny:
  15. The GFS has temps in the upper 50s in some places at 2PM:
  16. It was made in China. They should think about using their own products instead of building 250 coal power plants in 10 years. It will support their local economies. If only the USA had access to wind energy and solar panels 120 years ago when we were industrializing :/ Luckily the Chinese and everyone else today have access to modern clean technologies to power their societies.
  17. I got tired of replacing the battery constantly on mine so I bought a third party solar panel, drilled into the brick at a good angle and hooked it up to the terminals behind the Ring Doorbell Camera. I haven't replaced my battery since I installed it. Clean energy for free! You know what, maybe someone should let the Chinese know about it!
  18. Bro you have no argument so you've resorted to memes I don't know if you truly want to fix climate change or not, it's possible you just don't care.
  19. Earth doesn't care bud, the sooner you learn that the faster we can get to a solution. Giving China 50 extra years to pollute the shit out of the Earth because they were late to industrialize might make you feel good because you might have some type of Western guilt but the Earth doesn't care.
  20. China built between 200 and 300 coal power plants over the last 10 years The West has built none in the last 25 years. Do they know in China that they could have built solar panel farms or wind energy in the last 10 years instead? Or maybe even Natural Gas even though it also sucks but nowhere near as much as coal? And you want to fix climate change all on your own when you're up against that lol ok good luck
  21. But look how high quality it is! High frame rate and resolution, at least that's how it's perceived. And it's like 12 seconds long! I take a screenshot and the image is more than the 1.9mb limit. Good luck reducing the file size on a phone.
