Huge actually since Newark wasn't moved from a forest to an airport.
-
I see Central Park is in summer mode lol
-
10/10 today wow wow
-
Who cares about wind. NYC was getting 20% of its power from a clean source immune to global price shocks that provided baseload power 24/7. But no! We had to shut that down! My bills are pushing DOUBLE what I paid 5 years ago. And I got much more efficient heat pumps installed mind you! Don't get me started.

OBS for OKX Flood Watch (attached) into early Saturday 5/10/25

Maybe the SE PA/SNJ stuff might swing through here. If it holds. -
NYC will get clipped by this heavy batch. Not sure how much it will end up totaling, but it's better than nothing.
-
Didn't you used to live in Douglaston? Or am I mixing you up with someone else?
-
That's an impressive precip shield to our NW.
-
They probably just wanted to finish labeling the graph lol

This morning was kind of surprising. A little damp out still but a nice cool morning with Sun was nice.
-
Over half of the Central Park total came from a heavy cell a couple days ago that just clipped the park but missed everyone to the east of Manhattan, hence the totals discrepancy.
-
JUST east of Manhattan today had good rains. That late morning batch really upped our totals
-
All this time it was fat drops and pouring, now it has turned into much finer droplets and still pretty moderate.
-
To be fair, a bunch of models did not have this heavy batch rotating through the NYC area right now. It was shown more east.
-
That southwestern edge of the heavy rain will have to move a bit SW on this map judging by the heavy batch about to spin into NYC and LI.
-
Manhattan radiates really well, I am not surprised you dipped into chilly temps.
-
Radar looks like crap
-
Damn. That's terrible.
-
How much you got so far going back to the beginning?
-
Even deserts get some rain. If you're supposed to get 10 inches a year and you only got 4 inches, that can really mess up all the animal and plant life in that environment. Even life adapted to dry conditions can only take so much. Add a few million people pulling water from the ground at the same time and you have a major issue.

Finally a good downpour here
-
I'm not convinced of that quite yet haha
-
Models seem to have the rains to our south and west not really hitting NYC east. Maybe they'll be wrong, we'll see.
-
I don't even know what to say about this system. Several days ago I was hoping for a more organized area of rain for the area but instead getting rain out of this is more like hitting the lottery, at least at the coast.

I wanted to see if there were budget cuts to Mt. Holly or Upton that would make any difference to these warnings or forecasts, and when I googled it, the third result was from this weather forum in 2012 lol. The second result was from last year. The first result was from a month ago. It seems budget cuts or lack of proper funding and the NWS seem to have a long standing tradition spanning all types of administrations.
