    I've noticed that in the long range (day 10+) the EPA always show above normal almost everywhere with minimal negative anomalies anywhere. But when we get closer you see more pronounced positive and negative anomalies in the northern hemisphere. I wish tidbits had more old runs because the effect is more pronounced. But here is the run from the 21st for October 6th:

    I did apple picking off the trees one October out east like 10 or 12 years ago and there was a miserable heat and totally killed the Halloween mood.

    Major torch today. Made it to just under 85 degrees, now a "cooler" 81.

    December 2015 would have qualified as a top ten warmest November, it was the most insane departures I've ever seen. Ironically right after one of the coldest February and March we had in a long long time.

    My bad Newark has had 5 days in a row with the coldest day being 80. For Newark when I looked up the monthly data the tool defaulted to the last full month of records so I was looking at August instead of September!

    Tomorrow looks like upper 70s even for the warmer spots. Only your area has such an 80s streak going btw, all other official stations have had between 1 and 3 days 80 or above. Even Newark couldn't maintain the streak, they've had two days of highs of 79 over the last 8 days.

    Everything was blindingly bright this morning being wet from the rain I wasn't supposed to get and the Sun shining brightly with totally clear skies.

    You can't compare extremes that occur in winter to Fall. There's a reason there's no +10 month in summer for example. Going another +2.5 over the warmest October monthly average maximum is a big deal. October 1947 btw finished +5.7.

    Dude you need to chill, do you realize what you're typing? Mid 70s for the whole month of October? So a +10 monthly anomaly for highs huh? And you're basing this on what exactly?

    I got almost as much rain from a system models were giving me ZERO precip as I did a few days ago when they were showing 1 to 2 inches. 0.13 last night compared to 0.19 a few days ago.

    That entire OT conversation is the result of our weather being unbelievably boring.

    Indeed I will do that. I just thought that there are so many banter posts in here now, that to clean up this thread for the whole thing to get moved.

    I hate warm Octobers but I'd take the winter that followed that 2017 October.

    It certainly doesn't help that on the other side many of the so called proponents of climate change science are constantly saying the world will end next week or that they draft legislation turning what is purely a scientific matter into some type of racial justice issue. It makes the very real and solid science behind climate change look foolish and ridiculous.

    I agree about foie gras. But it's not natural to be a vegan. The only reason you're able to be a vegan and not be very sick or dead is because of modern civilization.

    It never gets cold enough in September and October to be worried about heating bills. Only the tail end of October can get chilly and still not enough to break the bank on heating. A "cold" September is basically highs of 70 and lows of 50. That's the temp zone where you use the least amount of energy.
