  1. I'm catching the most western edge of the sea breeze and have dropped to 73 from a high of 80 earlier. Much better now.
  2. Norway Maples are a terrible urban street tree. Now we know that (or maybe we always did) but they were extensively planted in NYC many decades back. They are off the planting list now. I have to give these trees credit in two areas, (when healthy) they produce a very solid shade and their fall color is gorgeous. Problem is they grow like crap in the city so they are usually looking sick.
  3. My dogwood was a White Flowering Dogwood, I had two of them, one on each side of my front door and driveway. One of them is still ok I guess. But the other hollowed out and I was worried it would either fall on someone or fall on my driveway and crush the car.
  4. Wow this pic is crazy. I consider the tree of heaven a weed tree, it grows in cracks in urban areas like a weed. It's also an ugly tree. For a tree lover like me it takes a lot for me to call a tree ugly lol
  5. Just a couple years ago I had to cut down what was a healthy, large 60+ year old Ash tree because of the stupid Emerald Ash Borer. It was a gorgeous tree with a huge, solid shade. Then all within 3 years it went to hell. Just a couple months ago I had to cut down one of my Dogwoods because it hollowed out and was in danger of falling over even though it still had a pretty healthy canopy. I've been having terrible luck with trees the last 15 years.
  6. I lost a tremendous amount of large mature trees in my area starting with the Queens tornado in September 2010. My area is still pretty green but before 2010 you had to search for sunshine walking on the sidewalk. It's very saddening.
  7. The trees have exploded over the last few days.
  8. Look at this beauty: Gorgeous day for a full lamb rotisserie. Happy Easter!
  9. I feel like the wind isn't as strong as it was a few hours ago, but it's still pretty breezy for sure
  10. Well the wind is too strong lol The temps though are lovely Is the wind supposed to stay strong all afternoon?
  11. Much nicer today for the outdoor Easter eating and activities.
  12. Ironically those all time record highs in July 1936 happened in a month that actually finished below normal using today's averages.
  13. Oh hell no I got the AC on lol
  14. It seems the biggest heat is clustered near the Jersey shore and also just east of Manhattan/western Queens (away from the south shore of course.) Eastern Queens is actually warmer than western Queens.
  15. Their dewpoint is probably a lot worse, which is the worst part of summer.
  16. It spiked to 87, now it's back to 84. There were other Ambient weather stations in the area with similar numbers.
  17. 87 degrees now! For the love of god make it stop.
  18. Torching here with 84 degrees. Give me my 60s back!
  19. Man that wind REALLY started to howl a little while ago
  20. How do you get so warm? Where are you located?
  21. Perfect spring day, I want this for the entire spring. I hate AC season.
  22. Will it be closer to 20 because it won't be that hot or because Central Park is notorious for recording many 89 degree days while everyone else is in the 90s?
  23. 75 too hot. You need AC indoors if it's sunny and 75 outside this time of year.
  24. Give me today every day through the end of June.
