  1. The NAM was the same model that gave us Chicagoans hope for Christmas. I'm honestly happy that it ISN'T showing snow here yet.
  2. I'm just glad that for once we have more than a wild goose chase to track. Cherish it while you can guys
  3. The question now is whether or not we can extract a locally viable solution, or if the models keep evolving into a whole different direction.
  4. Again FWIW, a decent number of GEFS members show some sort of secondary low action. Definitely a noticeable change from earlier.
  5. FWIW, the ICON has a sort of similar evolution to the GEM.
  6. I take comfort in the fact that even if it rains here, at least someone is gonna have a good time. Not that I necessarily think it's gonna be just rain In N IL, but...
  7. You have to will the storm into staying all snow
  8. I'll take the CMC and run with it. I'll bet my butt that they'll all cave south within fifty hours
  9. I know everyone loves to piss and moan, because I'm right there with you guys, but we all know damn well that there's absolutely no telling what could happen with this storm. I wouldn't be surprised if the track shifts a thousand miles either way. Remember, the first storm in Ohio this season was originally forecast to be a two-footer for North Dakota. Just sayin.
  10. As a German, I was only half joking about the ICON. Every time it gets trash talked I die a little bit more inside.
  11. The ICON is living proof that Germans do everything better.
  12. Then everyone can immediately start calling 2021 a bad year because it snows two feet right on the 1st. Or, if it snows on NYE then we can call it 2020's last "f*ck you"
  13. I'm not complaining that the medium range looks active, but I refuse to get hyped up over event #2 until #1 delivers. I'd like it if this first wave early next week could set down a nice swath of at least some snow and help dictate the path of the second storm (straight over mby ). Too many times have we had several storms all but lined up, only for each of them to vanish like a heat mirage in the desert.
  14. I wonder what it'd be like to receive the remaining 35 inches and some change at once
  15. Seriously, when did we go from being weenies to being meanies?
  16. Can't wait for the GFS to cave in a day or two
  17. I know we're all gonna piss and shit ourselves over any chance of a storm, especially for Christmas; and honestly even if it doesn't come to fruition I'd be glad to have something to watch for the next few days.
  18. No no, GHD 2011 was definitely legit. GHD 2015 though, while still good, was really not of the same caliber. Don't get me wrong though, I loved it and would gladly lap up half that amount of snow.
  19. The last Chicago storm that was actually on that level of intensity was GHD I. That was nine years ago. Undoubtedly, even GHD II fails to really impress compared to a big coastal bomb.
  20. Munich is definitely really nice; the convenience of the airport definitely helps too... Nurnberg is not a far drive away and is basically my home town... you should give it a look! My dream is to visit Switzerland.
  21. Thanks for the info! That's kind of cool, that it's more of a European city than a modern North American one. I'm originally from Germany, so I must confess that my curiosity is piqued. May need to take a trip there when I'm able to. It does look like a very scenic area, and Poutine sounds delicious
