Despite being in heavy rain multiple times in Charlottesville- heavy rain up Afton down into Eastern Waynesboro, NW edge of town/my backyard 0.02... The usual thunderstorm pattern the last few years....

Really does seem that way - more so than normal the last 3 years with thunderstorm seasons... Almost always north of Winchester and usually south of 64 in the Valley with organized activity ... Central and northern Valley gets slammed with incredible droughts but Lexington southward no problem... So far it's alittle bit wetter than last years Feb through July down here before the tropical deluge started in Aug - When it was barely a 1.5 inch a month avg... It's annoying too - usually get slammed during work in Charlottesville only to go home and see less than a tenth in the gauge..

Getting hit pretty good at work over in Charlottesville, probably about a inch...

0.66 so far ... About 4 or 5 hours of rain... instead of all coming down at once , which helps..

3.23 since March 1st.. Only May 2nd and grass is already brittle....

Would be very welcomed in the Valley here if it could hold together... Terrible start to the growing season here yet again with rainfall.... Spectacular fall/autumn - good winter - horrible spring again so far.....

Certainly does look that way the last few years with the exception being the fall tropical potential... Love Iowa though - my favorite of the flatter plains states except for all the wind turbines in Eastern Iowa, yes cleaner energy but annoying to look at....

That has been a impressive lead cell for sure , form southern Ohio to now near Wintergreen...

Can see the rapidly darkening skies off to the west here at work in Charlottesville...

With tonight's 100% rain chance also failing so far - this is turning into one of the driest 'rainy' days in some time...

At this point we just need some rain... After one of the best 6 months in several years , have only picked up 0.17 since March 4th... Getting dry again fast with the rising temps...

At work leaving Charlottesville going to Richmond vehicle temp says 86.. Easily feels like it too..very warm and muggy ...

0.02 for event 1.67 for March...

Pretty impressive storm for 3 to 5 ........ minutes , Still a good lightning/thunder display off to my east now...

Very very windy here, just likely had a 55 to 60 mph gust... very little precip... Tornado watch just got posted for the Valley... Maybe that line in WV clips part of the Valley later...

Wow that's even drier than it was down here for the first 7 months last year.. Everything changed down here last Aug Sept... Amazing that very little of that 2 weeks of tropical downpours to end Sept in the central Valley Charlottesville area made it up there.... One of the most unique events i ever recorded - 15+ in 15 days...

Easterly flow is obvious down here this morning... Beautiful blue skies in Waynesboro, Afton is fogged in & east of the mountains is dark overcast....

Had 1.15 earlier b4 I left for work over in Charlottesville.. The wife just sent this from home in Waynesboro, so definitely adding to it... she mentioned some hail in it... Can see a nice lightning show off to the west of Chville now...

Steady mod/ heavy wind driven rain.... Almost a tropical stormy look to it... Looks to be about .75 in the gauge ...

A bit off topic i guess -- Maybe I'm a bit biased for mountains , but of all the regular posters in this forum, your area has to be near the top for natural beauty... Absolutely love that area from Covington out toward Lewisburg & even further out toward Charleston...

Mar 09 always runs in my memory as the storm that started one hell of a 10 year run down here... with the major exception of the 2nd Feb 2010 storm...

I see there is still some snow hanging on in a few shaded spots east bound on 64 west of Covington...!
