  1. Barring a late cold-snap, it'll almost certainly be an early peak bloom year.
  2. Every February I post this thread. With Met Winter concluding in 23 days, and no winter weather in sight, I felt it timely to do so now. One month from now, the sun will set in Washington at 7:08pm. Pitchers and catchers are reporting. First Spring Training games start next week. Daffodils and other early blooms are already emerging. Post your observations and other thoughts here.
  3. That’s the trade off for living in civilization. Thems the breaks.
  4. Except the gradient is in western PA, not over us. If the SE ridge takes hold in mid-February, our goose is cooked.
  5. They're not the same. NC is substantially colder than GA.
  6. In DC proper, there really aren't 7 weeks anymore. For you rurals, sure. Hell, it's difficult for us to snow correctly in mid-January. March 1 is Spring for the most part inside the beltway.
  7. Conversely, I'm not so sure that the new climate hasn't made storms that previously may have dropped a foot, now drop 14".
  8. My comment was a direct response to the statement, "it never gets cold anymore". Which is obviously false.
  9. The coldest week in history for a large swath of NC occurred in the last 3 years.
  10. I'd rather have an early spring than white rain on pavement in March
  11. After next weekend, we only have 42 days of Met winter left
  12. Peak climo temps are early January, not late
  13. We’ve realistically only got about 45 days for that to have a chance. Once March gets here, things get exponentially tougher.
  14. I don’t want to take away from the fun, but this event really underscored the UHI that is DC once more. We had enough heavy snow, that in a rural field would have amounted to 2-3 inches, but was quickly vanquished by the concrete and steel. It’s sad. I really appreciate everyone’s pictures. It was fun nonetheless.
  15. It won’t show in the record books, but one of the more fun storms of the past 5 years. 2 hours of mod to heavy rates. Not much to show for it, but fun. Would take over 12 hours of light.
