  1. Torch is one of those terms that’s overused (here at least) today; it’s kind of like how people now describe many jobs and relationships nowadays as “toxic.” When everything is toxic (or a torch), nothing is; it numbs the listener or reader to conditions where it’s actually toxic (or uncomfortably warm). Highs in the 40s (imo), is not a torch, but it’s been taken to the glue factory. .
  2. I find your surplus of faith encouraging. .
  3. https://apple.news/AuKG_ygP5S46wrr8dM6RYMg This sucks .
  4. All I Want For Christmas is Yamamoto on the Mets (I’m hoping this is about the Mets and not meteorology) .
  5. I don’t know what this means, but I laughed. +1 .
  6. Last Palm Sunday, I went to my younger son's baseball season opener where it was a pleasant 32 and breezy.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a miserable, chilly March, because why not?
  8. Sounds like everyone needs a hit of the powdery white stuff. .
  9. I think one thing now that we’ve swung to one side so hard is that we often forget that it can snow, even with mild conditions forecasted long range. Weird things happen, and while I wouldn’t put my trust in it, things pop up all time. .
  10. And it’s always good promotion to juuuuuust happen to have posts or news lead-ins that have potential snow and cold around Christmas or any holiday. .
  11. Oh, I’m not denying what you’re saying (in fact, I have no idea what you’re talking about), it’s just that like Christmas decorating and raking leaves, it’s a seasonal tradition to declare winter over and walk through the stages of grief. .
  12. Eh, it’s the same conversations every year, like clockwork. .
  13. His enthusiasm is terrific, but he’s just having a moment. Let him process it. 100% on it’s not as bad as you think. I know a lot of people have mentioned we’ve been spoiled the past 25 years, so when you regress to the mean, it just sucks. You hit .300 for the year? That means you could have hit .450 for three months and .150 for the other three! That .150 is going to hurt. .
  14. This is like the stages of grief, my friend. .
  15. Yea… but it didn’t snow for many the rest of the winter. .
  16. 100% this. Enjoy the time with your loved ones. We can't control things, so it's best to enjoy what's in front of us. It's great to admit that you were wrong, but I wouldn't say it can't snow at this point of the year. That's just frustration speaking. In the past 15 years, we had October, November, and December storms. During those years, it didn't seem to snow much in March. That flipped for now, and it will likely flip again, but we have no idea when. It reminds me of when I was a kid, and thinking it would *never* snow. Ever. My dad told me to be patient. My elementary years coincided with 1987-1993, so it didn't have a major snowstorm until March of my fifth grade year. It happens and it drives us nuts.
  17. Was just thinking about this… we’re forecasted to have a warm Christmas, and we’re all annoyed about it and feel like we’re going on No Snow Part II. Last year, we had a frigid Christmas… and it still didn’t snow for many the remainder of the season. Maybe it’ll work out. Granted, do I have any idea of which I am speaking of? I do not. Just mentioning how things sometimes have a funny way of working themselves out. .
  18. They said there'll be snow at Christmas They said there'll be peace on Earth But instead it just kept on raining .
  19. Geez. Literally the trade-off of having an advancing civilization, which allows us to instantaneously have these very pleasant conversations across long distances. (I do have hope and believe that we will find a way to cleanse more carbon out of the air and sequester it during our lifetimes, even if it’s at the end.) .
