Will be very soft and I’d go very early it’s in the 50’s at the base there now I would go to Crotched in SNH which got 2 feet in the storm about 10 days ago

It’s nice to see but it’s a long shot at hour 180 given the thread the needle set up that we know all 2 well

I read the report the last couple days and they chalk it up to the jay “cloud” . Just dropping 20” in last 3 days , are they dropping acid before they measure?
-
I’d ski . There isn’t some monster cutter or 3 days of rain , and they should have enough snow , that 100-% beats 0f temps and howling winds . I think it will be pretty dang good

Jay claims they have 20” of new snow in last 72 hours on their 7am report and they claimed 17 or 18” new in their 72” hour report on Wednesday . Is this remotely accurate ...?

Hopefully nobody freaks out at this comment but with the driving -PNA being a dominant feature so far , would it be that surprising for a reshuffling of pacific to present an even uglier pig for mid January or can these things really not be gauged with probabilities? Does the tropical forcing that we see now and have seen show any short term indications of favoring thad sort of development or is a long shot . By January 10 we can score with so many different type of setups and I’m hoping we can eliminate the ugliest of them but trying to ask this question without the worriers having a total meltdown . The weather is going to do what it wants .

Faaaaar Northern Maine looks pretty good as They are getting in peak climo they really just need moisture And looks like they Will score plenty looks like decent gradient setting up in north central to Far northern Maine next 10 days . Good luck to SNE close to the coast
-
It’s not pretty , but it’s peak climo so we can still score , the further north the easier .

Incoming to the west coast -
I’d look into it , if I could witness like 10 feet in 4-5 days and not be in avalanche danger . I’m content waiting a bit thou , I’m sure some places near mammoth will see 15-20 feet over 2 weeks if modeling is right (including the last storm that dropped 26” yesterday am at base elev. with 3.5 liquid .

The number of people who made it to my hotels lobby as Friday eve went on kept climbing. They were the lucky ones that were rescued by emergency vehicles and a Good Samaritan our on a snow mobile . Everyone has a story , and everyone seemed grateful . 30 or so folks stayed in lobby as the first group of us were able to book rooms . Took multiple people rescued several hours to make it 2 miles as they kept getting stuck or playing a slow game of bumper cars trying to keep on road with poor visibility and all the stuck and abandoned cars Many mentioned They instinctively flocked to transit road As it’s usually the best maintained , many were only a few miles from home , many had suv’s

If your talking about the buffalo area , then you had to be in it and you would understand (Meaning this Area is prone to severe winter conditions and snowfall and the locals just dealt with a 50” snowfall in spots several weeks ago . So I think many of the folks just didn’t understand this was on another level as folks tend to focus on snowfall totals when determining severity from other perspectives . You can Even dress for severe cold ..you just can’t drive when you can’t see and plows can’t either . I don’t Think there has ever been a time (nevermind in 2022) when conditions came together so bad and so fast as you nearer the lake that people just making routine trips across town got stuck in their cars . Over 2000 cars were stranded at some point Friday nite in the broad Buffalo area . You had - 30 windchills , huge drifts and the real problem and why people couldn’t see and plows were called home is the winds . You simply were blind and had no choice to stop your car bc you could not see anything . I just think those folks weren’t even used to something like this . i have so much footage from it .

Spoke to some folks in the lobby as everyone has a story it seems. One guy said he was rescued with his 3 kids last nite . I said how far away is your car stuck , “15 miles maybe “ I said are you sure .. where was it stuck ..he put in location and it was 1.2 miles away . He said it took 2 hours to get here as the SUV cruiser kept getting stuck and Had to maneuver around other stuck cars and the officer would stop and check for people inside .

Lol. We rest up and pray for more feet later tonite , maybe I need to wait for the New Year’s Eve melting . Transit Road is laughable right now . Not sure if they have a plow that can move 18 wheelers out of the way or SUV’s stuck in middle or road. I thought this main road was kept open and cleared lol . This looks eery and everything is stuck out there . Let’s pile another 28” on And keep the winds stiff
-
Unmeasurable, powder and 65 mph winds . DPw pulled the plows even with many emergency personnel stuck and stranded . Band has shifted north overnite , hopefully I can get to my original hotel (3 miles north ) as this one closes for the holiday . I don’t want to try and drive and risk my car getting stuck so this should be fun in a few hrs . Some cars in lot has transformed to mounds of snow (w car underneath ) others seem like drivers could just back out of spot .

Buffalo dispatcher just took a call from a motorist stranded in his car for 5 hours who found an abandoned fire truck stuck in snow drift and called from his new “shelter “. Pure madness as buffalo is shut down and in chaos . 65 mph winds and feet of powder have caused a zero visibility ground blizzard that the buffalo regional lake effect folks says rivals any chaos they can recall . At least earlier this year they plowed The feet of snow and the winds were about 35.And temp kept the snow Density up This is just wild here With the blowing and falling snow and 65 mph gusts , you simply can’t see and the plows went home hours ago . In fact there was 5” on i-78 and 33 east of airport on that “well maintained” Transit road at 3pm . The amount of cars stuck is difficult to imagine
