  1. this was what I used to do back when we had colder Octobers (in the 90s) I didn't cook anything though I just turned on the stove.
  2. the wind..... heat needs to be on for any temperature below 60 and no sun it should be mandatory by New York law
  3. wow the years on this list are a like Who's Who of some of our coldest/snowiest February, March and April patterns and they warmed up so much in May! 2015 ! 1979 1982 ! 2018 ! 2004 1993 ! 1964 2014 1960 ! ! = years had a big snow event in either March or April or both
  4. Like 90% of the rain will happen on Thursday, with only a few showers today and Friday.
  5. The cool weather isn't bad I just wish it came with sunshine instead of these out of season coastal lows. May 1-20 didn't actually feel hot at all, just somewhat warm with temperatures in the low 80s. Above normal to be sure, but not hot.
  6. the next chance of rain is likely Tuesday, so right after the long weekend ends.
  7. it seems like the cooler and rainier periods in May are happening most often in the latter third of the month (May 20th and beyond) so this fits the pattern.
  8. thats good enough and hopefully with a lot of sun and no more of these cut offs? I wouldn't mind a 2 week period of zero rain.
  9. I know you loved 2010 because it was hot and dry ;-) we discussed this before lol Humidity can be sucked to the moon for all I care, can't stand humidity at all.
  10. May has a consistent -nao now. It's why we're seeing rain and cool weather almost year after year in May and even snow (2020).
  11. yes I mean hot and dry with a good westerly breeze, humidity is awful and contributes zippo to high temperatures (it even lowers temperatures).
  12. But real heat coming in to start June?
  13. Lows:EWR: 42 (2002)NYC: 40 (1907)LGA: 45 (2002)JFK: 42 (2020)^ wow, 2020 was still cold this late in May?
  14. 1992: Canadian high pressure across the Mid-Atlantic brought record low temperatures to parts of the East. The morning low of 28° degrees in Atlantic City, NJ was the coldest ever for so late in season. Locations that reported daily record lows for the date included: Martinsburg, WV: 35°, Salisbury, MD: 36°, Baltimore, MD: 38°, Dover, DE: 41°, Wilmington, DE: 41°, Washington, D.C.: 43 °F. I remember this! 1992 was the year without a summer because of Pinatubo.
  15. Yes so I wasn't joking when I said our Mays have become cooler.
  16. the high was 70 here
  17. an inside runner, would be mostly rain here
  18. No, it would have been raining here in January too, this is an inside runner.
  19. Yes it was nice and warm here around 3 pm 70 .... not 76 lol
  20. It would be interesting to see what kind of summers we generally have after a cool May. May is close enough to summer to serve as some gage I take it?
  21. This is why our springs have gotten cooler (high temps) and a -nao has become prevalent in April and May while a +nao is prevalent in the winter now.
  22. At least this will be gone before Memorial Day weekend. From the maps I've seen there may even be some sunshine tomorrow morning and the sun may come out again Friday afternoon.
  23. you must have been near freezing on this date in 2002, ironic after a huge historic heatwave in April that year and the nicely hot and dry summer to follow.
  24. haha I had my space heater on. don't need to open any windows the cold wind comes into my house and blows open my bedroom door.
  25. I've always thought it's the out of shape people that complain about the heat.
